(2) Candidates must spend a minimum period of residence in Singapore for six months once they are enrolled in the Concurrent Degree Programme. Candidates who need to extend their candidature period beyond the 10th semester due to extenuating circumstances will have to apply for an extension, subject to approval by the Department and the Graduate Studies Division.
(3) International students on student’s pass must pursue their studies on a full-time basis.
(4) Applicants may visit the Faculty website http://www.fas.nus.edu.sg for more information on our research programmes (programme requirements, tuition fee, etc)
SERVICE OBLIGATION SCHEME
(5) International Students reading a government-subsidised programme can apply for the Service Obligation (SO) Scheme to pay reduced, subsidised tuition fees. Candidates who were on the Tuition Grant (TG) scheme during their undergraduate study would still need to apply for the SO scheme when they progress to the graduate component of the CDP.
(6) International Students who applied successfully for the Scheme will be required to undertake a service bond under the terms of the SO to work for a Singapore-registered company for three years upon completion of their degrees so as to discharge some of their obligations to the Singapore public for the high subsidy to their graduate education. While TG and SO each carry a three-year bond obligation, the current policy would allow CDP students to serve the bonds concurrently (i.e. three years in total, and not six). However, this policy is subject to review.
(7) For further enquiries about the Service Obligation Scheme, please refer to Ministry of Education’s (MOE) website (https://tgonline.moe.gov.sg/tgis/normal/studentViewServiceObligationSubsidyInfo.action) on Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), or contact MOE’s Tuition Grant Unit at:
