Job Title:Money Advice Support Worker

Salary Range £23,896 - £24,643

Summary of Job Remit
The money advice support worker will provide support, supervision and training for advice workers. Specific requirements are to maintain the quality and effectiveness of the service, in particular within the area of debt problems; provide formal representation for clients at tribunals and where appropriate assist the Quality Officer in the delivery of training in money advice.
Major Tasks
 Provision of support and supervision of the advice staff and to be available for advisers on advice sessions to assist with complex issues

 To review and undertake detailed casework on a range of issues including debt problems, welfare rights etc.

 Ensure that appropriate systems are maintained for case recording, statistics, follow-up work and quality control

 Progress casework and undertake research of case issues when required

 Maintain expertise in relevant legislation e.g. debt, welfare rights

 Provision of training in money advice and related areas

 Represent clients at various court/tribunals such as Social Security Appeals and the Sheriff Court

 Collation of statistics and the provision of regular reports to the bureau manager for the purposes of monitoring and reviewing the service in money advice

 To assist in the production of briefing materials, social policy reports and information leaflets

 To assist the manager to create an awareness within the community and wider area, of the role of Citizens Advice Bureau in relation to debt enquiries and to liaise with relevant agencies

 Abide by the Health & Safety guidelines and share responsibility for own safety and that of colleagues

 To identify own training and development needs and raise with line manager between appraisals

 Any other duties which may be reasonably requested by the manager to ensure the effective provision of the advice services

Person Specification

Money Advice Support Worker

Essential

 Sound knowledge and experience of Money Advice

 Sound knowledge of Welfare Rights

 Ability to provide support and supervision to volunteers

 An understanding and empathy with the aims and objectives of CAB service

 Ability to motivate others and work in a team setting

 Experience in advice giving

 Acts on own initiative and communicates clearly verbally and in writing

 Ability to prepare reports and keen analytical skills

 Ability to represent clients at Unified Tribunals

 Commitment to equal opportunities

 Ability to use IT in the provision of an advice service

Desirable

 Experience of statistical analysis

 Experience of working in the voluntary sector

 Experience of staff supervision
