My Window
What is life? James says, James 4:14 ...it is but a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. Death becomes more and more of a reality to me as I grow older. I realize that I’m still a young man but there’s a good chance that I’ve lived over half of my allotted time on this earth; only GOD knows. It’s a sobering thought that forces me to do some serious self-evaluation. If by the blessing of GOD He allows me to have another 36 years on this earth, what will I do with them in regards to my service for Him? In the grand scheme of time we all have a small window of opportunity to make a difference. You and I have an allotted time and if you’re reading this, you, like me have your window of opportunity open now, but that window can be shut in an instant. Proverbs 27:1 Boast not thyself of tomorrow; for thou knowest not what a day may bring forth. If that window were to shut today, what could be said of my life and service to GOD? Could it be said that I as Paul in 2nd Timothy 4:7 ...have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: 8 Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. Could it be said of you? Have I lived in such a way that I would hear well done good and faithful servant; enter thou into the joys of the Lord? If when we evaluate ourselves we don’t like the answers to the above questions, there’s good news; our window is still open and we have the opportunity to make a change. For however long we might have whether it be 1 day or 50 years we can live for the LORD with a passion and diligence like never before and when our time is finished and we stand before our Great GOD, we can hear those sweet words “well done good and faithful servant; enter thou into the joys of the Lord.” What will I do with my open window? What will you do with yours? Eternity will ultimately tell the story.
