The Zonta Club of the Pikes Peak Area has served the local community since 1949.We are a volunteer organization dedicated to improving the lives of women and theirfamilies. All of the proceeds from our fund-raising efforts go to support projectswhich are effective and in keeping with our mission. In 2009, such proceeds will make possible a program of Life Skills Classes created by TESSAfor theresidents of their safe house.Local funds and hands-on service hours alsosupport such past and future projectsas educational scholarships, drug and alcoholrecovery programs, adolescent and adult self-esteem and mentoring efforts as well ashuman trafficking awareness. Awards and donations for these projects have been valued at between $500 and $8,000. Go to for more information.

The Pikes Peak Area Zonta Foundation is organized exclusively for charitable purposes, to carry out the charitable objectives of the Zonta Club of the Pikes Peak Area of El PasoCounty including the provision of service at the global and local level and to support charitable organizations that advance the charitable objectives of Zonta International Foundation.

When reviewing grant applications, the foundation keeps in mind the following points:

  • Does this project mainly affect or involve women?
  • Does it promote self-sufficiency in women?
  • Does it have a long-term effect for women?
  • Does it make a permanent change in women’s status?
  • Does it improve one or more of the following areas for women?
  • Education
  • Political
  • Economic/financial
  • Health/safety
  • Occupational/vocational/professional
  • Does it affect generations to come?
  • Does it encourage independence for the women involved?
  • Does it promote equal participation in a process?
