Jar Mix Recipes
Hot Chocolate
2 C powdered milk
1 C Hershey’s Cocoa
2 C powdered sugar
1 C powdered CoffeeMate Creamer
Dash of salt (optional)
Combine all ingredients and mix well. Fill jars with mix and put the lid on.
Hot Chocolate Instructions:
To make 1 cup, fill mug 1/4 to 1/3 full of mix. Stir in 6-8 oz. very hot water. Stir well and add mini-marshmallows, if desired. Enjoy!
Chocolate-Covered Raisin Cookie Mix
Layer into pint jar:
3/4 C sugar
1/2 C brown sugar
1 C chocolate-covered raisins
1/2 C chocolate chips
1 3/4 C flour mixed with 1 tsp baking power &1/2 tsp soda
Chocolate-Covered Raisin Cookie Mix Baking Directions:
1/2 cup (1 stick) butter or margarine, softened
1 egg, slightly beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla (opt.)
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
Spray baking sheets with nonstick cooking spray.
Empty the jar of cookie mix into a large bowl, blend together.
Add butter, egg, and vanilla. Mix completely.
Shape the dough into walnut-size ball. Place 2 inches apart.
Bake 13 to 15 minutes until tops are very lightly browned.
Remove from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes.
Holiday Cookies Mix
Layer into jar:
1/4 C. Sugar
1/2 C. Brown sugar, packed
1 1/2 C. all-purpose flour
3/4 t. baking soda
1/4 t. baking powder
1/2 C. M & M chocolate candies
1/2 C. rolled oats
1/2 C. regular crisped-rice cereal
1/2 C. white chocolate chips
Holiday Cookies Baking Directions:
Cream together 1/2 cup butter, 1/2 teaspoon vanilla and 1 egg in a large bowl. Add the contents of the jar and stir until well blended. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 10-12 minutes until light browned.
Sand Art Brownies
Layer in Jar:
1/3 C Cocoa Powder
2/3 C Sugar
1/2 C Chocolate Chips
1/2 C Vanilla Chips
2/3 C Brown Sugar
1 C plus 4 Tbls Flour
1/2 tsp Salt
1/2 C walnuts (optional)
Sand Art Brownies Baking Directions:
Combine 1 tsp vanilla, 2/3 C oil, and 3 eggs with jar mix and mix well. Put into greased 9x9 or 11x7 inch pan and bake 25-30 minutes in a 350 degree oven.
Beef Barley Soup Mix
Layer in jar:
3/4 C Medium Pearl Barley, divided – put 1/2 into jar first and the
remaining 1/2 in the jar last
1/2 C Dried Lentils
2 Tbls Dried Parsley
1/4 C Dried Minced Onion
1/4 C Instant Beef Bouillon
2 Tbls Dried Celery
1/2 tsp Dried Thyme Leaves
1 Bay Leaf
1/4 tsp Black Pepper
1/4 tsp Minced Garlic
Beef Barley SoupCooking Instructions:
2 Pounds Boneless Beef Chuck –cut into 1/2 inch pieces
1 Tbls Vegetable Oil
1 Jar Beef Barley Soup Kit
10 Cups Water
Heat oil in Dutch oven over medium heat until hot. Brown beef, pour off drippings. Add soup kit and water; bring to boil. Reduce heat; cover tightly and simmer 1 1/2 to 1 3/4 hours. Discard bay leaf. Makes 8 generous servings.
Turkey Noodle Soup Mix (makes 3-1/2 pint jars of mix)
1/2 C chicken bouillon granules
3 T dried onion flakes
1 T dried celery flakes
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp thyme
3 C dry fine egg noodles
3 bay leaves
Put a bay leaf in each jar. Combine all ingredients except noodles. Put equal amounts in each jar. Fill jar with noodles (about 1 cup). Store in cool, dry place.
Turkey Noodle Soup Cooking Instructions:
Combine soup mix, 8 cups water and 1 diced carrot in a Dutch oven. Bring to a boil; reduce heat and simmer 15 minutes.
Discard bay leaf. Stir in 3 cups diced cooked turkey or chicken;
simmer 15 minutes. Yield: 2 quarts
Friendship Soup Mix in a Jar
1/2 cup dry split peas
1/3 cup beef bouillon granules
1/4 cup pearl barley
1/3 cup dry lentils
1/4 cup dried minced onion
2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
1/2 cup uncooked long grain rice
1/2 cup small macaroni
In a 1 1/2 pint jar, layer the ingredients in order listed. Seal tightly.
Friendship Soup Cooking Instructions:
1 pound ground beef
3 quarts water
1 can diced tomatoes
To prepare soup, carefully remove macaroni from the top and set aside.
In a large saucepan, or Dutch oven, brown beef and drain. Add the water, tomatoes and soup mix. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 45 minutes. Add the reserved macaroni, cover and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes or until macaroni, peas, lentils and barley are tender.
