This course is designed for students who will require mathematics at a post-secondary institution but will not be satisfy the prerequisite for any Calculus course. Senior 4 Applied Mathematics focuses on the use of various forms of technology to master new mathematical content. Through the use of brainstorming, collaborative investigations and technical tools you will solve problems using a variety of techniques. These investigations will encourage you to hypothesize, experiment, measure, analyze, assess, discuss, write, explain and justify your ideas.

3. Personal Finance
4. Probability
5. Variability and Statistical Analysis
6. Polynomial Functions
7. Exponential and Logarithmic Functions
Evaluation:
Term / Weight / Term Work / Exam PeriodTerm 1 (Sept. to Oct. exam) / 15% / 10% / October 5%
Term 2 (Oct. to Dec. exam) / 25% / 15% / December 10%
Terms 3 and 4 (Jan. to April exam) / 60% / 30% / April 30%

· TI-83 Calculator. This is mandatory. It is not advisable to share/borrow this tool.
· Throughout the duration of the course numerous handouts will be distributed which are also required to retain.
Attendance:
Please email and/or phone myself prior to any absence. Failure to do so may result in the loss of all marks for any evaluation that occurred during the absence. If you miss a test because of an absence it is your responsibility to ensure you make alternate arrangements with me to write your missed test. You are required to obtain any missed notes or handouts during an absence.
