2018 TEACHING VACANCY: Science–Ability to teach ATAR subjects

Full time ongoing(probationary for the first 2 years).

The College invites applications from outstanding, innovative and experienced educators for the position of Science teacher. Applicants should be strongly team orientated and committed to supporting the Catholic ethos of the College and its co-curricular activities.

We require a passionate and enthusiastic teacher of Science who is able to engage and motivate students to achieve their potential. They will be expected to teach a range of classes in Years 7 - 12 Science and will be responsible to the Principal through the Head of Science. The teacher will be expected to contribute to the efficient organisation of the Learning Area and contribute to the co-curricular programmes in this Learning Area.

Teachers are expected to be responsible for a pastoral group and have the pastoral and administrative responsibilities associated with being a significant adult to a group of students. In carrying out these duties the teacher is directly responsible to the Head of Year and to the Deputy Principal responsible for the Year group.

The College operates over two campuses. All staff members are expected to be prepared to work at either of the home campuses.

SELECTION CRITERIA The position requires the staff member to possess:

Qualifications

Essential:Registration with the Teacher Registration Board of WA (TRBWA).

(This includes a minimum four-year tertiary qualification and police clearance)

Tertiary qualification specific to the specialist field.

Working with Children Check

Desirable: The ability to teach Religious Education and/or a second Learning Area.

Knowledge

  • Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in implementation of Science curricula, especially the WA Curriculum and Courses contained within the WA Certificate of Education (WACE).
  • Exhibit an educational vision and strong sense of purpose consistent with the College Mission.

Skills

  • The ability to teach a number of Science courses at lower and upper school level (ATAR) is highly desirable.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to relate with harmony and authority with staff and students.
  • Sound written and verbal communication skills.
  • Skills in curriculum development.
  • A demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Outstanding classroom practice
  • The ability to teach Religious Education or Digital Technologies is desirable.

EXPERIENCE Be an excellent classroom practitioner.
