INSTRUCTIONS FOR COMPLETING APPLICATION
1.This application is to be completed by the applicant.
2.Please type or print clearly. Be sure to answer every question.
3.Attach to this application:
a)A copy of your class schedule for fall 2015 or your acceptance letter
b)A Certified copy of your spring 2015transcript. If you did not attend school in the spring a certified copy of your most recent transcript.
c)A typed essay of 500 words or less on “Why I deserve a GLVAR scholarship.” Be sure to include any hardships that should be known.
d)Two (2) letters of recommendation, excluding those of family members.
e) A copy of your current driver’s license or Identification Card

SUBJECT: Scholarship Awards
SOURCE: Board of Directors, January 28, 1999
It shall be the policy of the Greater Las Vegas Association of REALTORS to:
- Bestow scholarship awards at the annual Membership meeting each September/October as selected by the Scholarship Committee under the criteria established by the Board of Directors as outlined below.
- Contribute .003 percent of GLVAR’s budgeted gross revenue to the scholarship fund for distribution to eligible candidates as approved by the Board, April 2011.
Scholarship Criteria:
1.Recipients must be a REALTOR member of GLVAR, an immediate family member (child, spouse, or grandchild) of a current or deceased member of GLVAR (four years after death the Member cannot be used for eligibility).Subject REALTOR® member must have membership at GLVAR for the previous 2 years.
2. Other criteria as deemed applicable by the Scholarship Committee and as approved by the Board of Directors.
3. All scholarships made through GLVAR shall be paid directly to the Institution of Higher Education on behalf of the recipient.
- Applicants must have and maintain no less than a 3.1 grade point average.
5. To rank scholarships on a point system as follows:
a. GPA = 3 or 4 points depending on their current GPA
b. Special Awards received within the last 4 years = 1 point
c. Community Service done within the last 4 years = 1 point
d. GLVAR Community Service done within the last 4 years = 2 points
e. Out of School Activities = 1 point
f. In School Activities = 1 point
g. Work Experience = 1 point
h. Currently Employed = 1 point
h. Active Members
i. 2-5 years = 1 point
ii. 6-10 years = 2 points
iii. 11 on up = 3 points
Seven points is the minimum that a student must have. Anything below seven points is at the discretion of the committee.
7. Applicants must be enrolled in at least 12 credits at an accredited college or university at the
time of application.
8. GLVAR employees or immediate family members (child, spouse, or grandchild) applying for
a scholarship must have been with GLVAR for the previous two (2) years. Scholarships will be limited to three (3) GLVAR employees or immediate family members per year. If more than three people apply within the same year, applicants will be judged first by seniority then highest GPA. Any staff member receiving a scholarship that resigns within six months after receiving the scholarship must reimburse the Scholarship Committee.
