1.RainGarden
Wet areas and/or converting water from roof gutters and down spouts, channeling it into a swale and collecting it in a pond.
Soft contours are needed to achieve a swale and pond. The pond needs a 2:1 slope overflow or outlet into a drain catch basin.
- Swale: 2’0” wide at bottom and 4’0” at top with a gentle slope. The swale should meander to the pond. Plant material is used in the swale to slow down the flow and cleanse the water. It requires plants that deal with level changes and seasonal changes. Some examples listed here:
