The Corporation is the Governing Body of the College. Its voluntary, non-executive members have a commitment to the long-term future of the College and are responsible for its educational character, financial solvency and effectiveness.

The Corporation meets at least once a term. There is an annual Strategic Planning Day held in the daytime and additional training is provided as necessary. The following Committees meet at least once per term:

Governors’ visits to College
The Governor Visiting Scheme provides opportunities throughout the year for Governors to extend their experience of College life. Bespoke visits can arranged on request but this year the Governor daytime visits into Collegewere held in November over a period of a week and were arranged to include a visit to departmental meetings.
Some Governors are also involved with the work of the College in areas such as Health and Safety, Safeguarding and Capital Projects.
Attendance at College events such as the Drama productions and the Fashion Show are also popular with Governors. These experiences are shared with the whole Corporation at the next meeting.
Publication of Agendas, Minutes and Papers
Agendas, Minutes and Papers for all Corporation and Committee meetings (except for confidential items) are displayed on the Corporation’s noticeboard in the staff room and agendas are also available to Union Representatives. Copies are also available for inspection (except for confidential items) from the Clerk. Minutes of Corporation and Committee meetings are posted on the College websites once they have been confirmed. The Corporation’s Annual Report, including the audited Accounts, is available on the College website.
Access to Meetings
Members of the College community and the public may attend Corporation meetings as observers (non-confidential Agenda items only) provided a request to attend is received by the Clerk in advance of the meeting. Attendance will be at the discretion of the Chair.
In order to protect personal privacy, any person wishing to contact members directly should do so through the Clerk who will forward correspondence to members or relay contact via e-mail or telephone.
All Governors are checked against the Disclosure and Barring system at appointment and make annual Declarations of Eligibility and Interests which are available to the public for inspection during office hours from theClerk.
