Background

In order to complement the work of the EuroMed Transport programme in the land transport sector, the European Union has launched the EuroMed Regional Transport Project “Road, Rail and Urban Transport” (EuroMed RRU). This 3-year project aims to support the implementation of the Trans Mediterranean Transport Network (TMT-N) by developing appropriate regulatory framework and operational conditions as to facilitate cross-border transport, to enhance land transport safety and to promote sustainable and efficient urban transport.

Throughout the life of the project, several seminars/conferences will be organized, technical assistance and training will be conducted and best practices will be shared. The project will cover Algeria, Egypt, Israel, Jordan,Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, State of Palestine and Tunisia.

In this context, following a national workshop hosted by the Ministry of Transport in June 2012 to discuss project activities it was decided to hold a Symposium focused on land transport issues in the Palestinian Territories.

Objectives of the event

  • Present and discuss land transport issues in the Palestine state with focus on road and urban transport
  • Discuss potential reforms and projects for land transport in the Palestinian Territories
  • Strengthen links between Palestine and international institutions and donors involved inland transport
  • Mobilize transport stakeholders around relevant solutions for land transport in the Palestine state.

Languages

Simultaneous interpretation will be provided in English and Arabic.
