Longleaf Services Announces a Partnership with Aerbook and Aer.io Enabling University Presses to Directly Market and Sell Their E-books to Consumers

CHAPEL HILL, NC (JUNE 10, 2015)--The Aerbook and Aer.io platforms allow publishers and authors to promote their books and to seamlessly share sample content via email and on Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, and in other social streams. It also allows participating Longleaf presses to build collections of titles that can be viewed, shared, and sold together. The University of North Carolina Press, University of Nebraska Press, Rutgers University Press, Louisiana State University Press, and Syracuse University Press are early adopters of this new technology.

Ron Martinez, CEO of Aer.io Retail and social marketing service Aerbook, said “The Longleaf presses using Aer.io have joined a new retail network. The pooling of titles from all publishers in the Aer.io catalog makes it straightforward for any of the participating presses to create vertical, interest-based mini-sites with their own books, and those of any of the other participants.”

This functionality can be integrated directly into a press’s websites and apps, or used in a variety of ways in the social web to bring book content—and the ability to purchase in multiple formats—directly to readers, wherever they may be. It makes the sharing of book recommendations online easier than ever before.

Clay Farr, Executive Director of Longleaf, said “We are extremely pleased to be able to provide our partner presses an exciting new turnkey solution to make their books more discoverable and to help them expand the reach of their authors.” Robbie Dircks, President of Longleaf, added “I’m excited for Longleaf publishers to now be able to sell e-books direct to consumers via their websites and through the social media, as well as collaborate on future subject area and academic meeting promotional retail sites.”
