Pre-AP Computer Programming – Mrs. Pyatte
Course Overview
Pre-AP Computer Programming is an introductory programming course
where you will learn both C++ and JAVA computer languages. The main objective of this course is to teach you basic programming strategies that are used in all languages. Computer programmers write, test, and maintain the detailed instructions, called programs, which computers follow to perform specific tasks. C++ is an excellent language for beginners and is still one of the first languages you will learn if you take programming in college. Java is widely used for cross-platform GUI (graphical user interface) development, Object Oriented development, and has an extensive set of class libraries available for programmer use. Java has been chosen as the UIL Academic and College Board programming language used in competition and testing.
If the preceding paragraph does not make any sense at all, then DON’T PANIC. This is an introductory course and you will learn all the fascinating things you can develop with programming languages as you progress in this class. It is the foundation for many computer, mathematics, and engineering related fields at the postsecondary level.
I am so glad you have chosen this class to pursue an interest in Computer Science. I guarantee that you will broaden your higher level thinking skills which will be valuable to you in future endeavors.
