- Planning and Instruction:
- The team spoke with Kim Atkins and shared how she can help incorporate our research project in art class. Some of the classes are researching an animal and Kim is going to try to talk to the students about how they might take a close up look at the skin of an animal and have the students illustrate this. She can also talk about an animal’s habitat which would tie in with our fossils unit in science. Both Bonnie and Mary Clay are also helping us with research for our student’s projects. Kim plans to also go back and focus on the North Carolina Mountains and create a type of pottery project using face jugs which come from North Carolina and is a tradition done in the mountains. It will also tie in with Black History month coming up.
- Team discussed the differentiation day we had yesterday and overall we feel that it went well. We were concerned though that the intervention teachers had too many students in their group. Next time we will plan to have one of the classroom teachers take a lower group as well to lower the numbers in the intervention group. It was nice to see the students working with other students that they don’t normally work with.
- Action Steps
- The team plans to give the next common assessment today on division word problems and then analyze how the students do after having a diff. day.
