**After finishing each section, put a check mark next to it so you know each section was completed**

_____Click on the Apply Tab and read through the Virtual Tours, Objectives, and Procedure Tabs

_____ Go back to the Virtual Tours Tab and look at the different examples of virtual tours for ideas

_____ Go back to the Procedure Tab and download the worksheet or click here: worksheet

_____ Visit: http://minerals.usgs.gov/minerals/pubs/mapdata/ and click on the state you want to use

and record the information in part 1 of the worksheet

_____ Determine what 10 stops your tour will have and record in Part 2 of the worksheet

_____ Locate the geologic map containing information on the types of rocks and minerals in the areas

you selected and click here for the key: key to the maps

_____ Complete the rest of worksheet by filling out parts 3 and 4

_____ Determine how your tour will be presented (powerpoint, brochure, website, picture book, etc)

_____ Start off your presentation with an introduction:

_____What is the objective of your tour?

_____What stops will your tour have?

_____What types of rocks and minerals will be discussed?

_____ Discuss each of the 10 stops on your tour and include:

_____ What types of rocks or minerals are found at each stop?

_____ How are those types of rocks and minerals formed?

_____ Make sure to include the three main types of rocks and how they are formed (igneous,

metamorphic, sedimentary). Use the answers to part 3 of the worksheet for help

_____ Make sure to include and explain at least 5 vocabulary words from the following:

deposition, extrusive, heat, igneous rocks, inside, intrusive, lava, lithification, magma,

metamorphic rocks, outside, pressure, sedimentary rocks

_____ Include a list of your resources

_____ Attach document to assessment and submit
