Old Business

A.School Building Day:

The new plan for School Building Day, April 17th at Coe Elementary School in Seattle is to model the ceremony after a Superintendent site visit. Tours and presentations will focus on why the program at Coe is exemplary, and how the building design supports the educational programming.

After some discussion, it was suggested that the Board award a $1000 grant to the Coe Elementary PTA as seed money for a student oriented project that promotes the values and vision of School Building Day.

A motion was made and passed to award a $1000 grant to the Coe Elementary School PTA for a student oriented project that promotes the values and vision of School Building Day.

Further discussion followed, with consensus that work on School Building Day needed to begin earlier in the year, and that a committee should be formed to develop a selection process for future SBD honorees. SBD should be included in the fall dinner meeting committee sign up sheet. The Board expressed its appreciation to Don Gilmore and Ed Peters for their work on this year’s celebration.

New Business

A.Conference Exhibit Fees for 2004.

The Board reviewed conference exhibit booth fees for the 2004 state conference. Information was provided regarding fees charged by other organizations and the desire to reward industry partners for membership in CEFPI. After considerable discussion, the Board adopted the following fee schedule:

A motion was made and carried to set 2004 state conference exhibit booth fees at $400 for CEFPI members and 2003-2004 CEFPI sponsors of $500 or more. The rate for non members is $500 per booth.

All booth reservations will be held until August 1, 2003 when they will be reoffered at the $500 rate on a first come/first served basis.

Elections

The position of Governor for the Washington State Chapter 2003-2006 will be open beginning at the International conference in the fall. Board members were encouraged to propose experienced CEFPI members to fill the term.

The position of Chapter Secretary is also open for the 2003-2004 fiscal year. Ed Peters will coordinate a nominating process to bring forth interested and qualified candidates for the position. This year’s position is open to industry partners only.
