Bell Schedules
Warrior Pride Program
The goal of this program is to recognize student success in academics, behavior, and attendance. The three levels that student can obtain are the Ultimate Warrior, Gold Level, and Blue Level. All levels will be able to participate in sports, attend rallies, and dances. Students will also be eligible to win different prizes and incentives. The higher the level the more rewards and incentives the student will receive (first to lunch passes, BBQ, lunch time activities, etc.). Rallies will be held every quarter to celebrate students that obtain Warrior Pride.
Qualifications for Warrior Pride LevelsUltimate Warrior Level / Gold Warrior Level / Blue Warrior Level
- 4.0 Grade Point Average
- No unexcused absences and tardies
- Advanced on at least one benchmark and at least proficient on the other

*In House Suspension and Suspensions will result in the loss of the student’s Warrior Pride Level according to the following guidelines:
- 1 Day Suspension/In House = Loss of level for 4 days.
- 2 Day Suspension = Loss of level for 8 days.
- 3 Day Suspension = Loss of level for 12 days.
- 4 Day Suspension = Loss of level for 16 days.
- 5 Day Suspension = Loss of level for 20 days.
If a student receives 2 suspensions equals loss of pride level for the entire quarter. 3 suspensions equal loss of warrior pride level for the remainder of the semester.
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) or what we call (Warrior P.R.I.D.E.).
1. “What is School-Wide PBIS?”
Improving student academic and behavior outcomes is about ensuring all students have access to the most effective and accurately implemented instructional and behavioral practices and interventions possible. SWPBS provides an operational framework for achieving these outcomes. More importantly, SWPBS is NOT a curriculum, intervention, or practice, but IS a decision making framework that guides selection, integration, and implementation of the best evidence-based academic and behavioral practices for improving important academic and behavior outcomes for all students.
2. “What Does School-Wide PBIS Emphasize?”
In general, SWPBS emphasizes four integrated elements: (a) data for decision making, (b) measurable outcomes supported and evaluated by data, (c) practices with evidence that these outcomes are achievable, and (d) systems that efficiently and effective support implementation of these practices.
These four elements are guided by six important principles:
- Develop a continuum of scientifically based behavior and academic interventions and supports
- Use data to make decisions and solve problems
- Arrange the environment to prevent the development and occurrence of problem behavior
- Teach and encourage prosocial skills and behaviors
- Implement evidence-based behavioral practices with fidelity and accountability
- Screen universally and monitor student performance & progress continuously
3. What Outcomes are Associated with Implementation of PBIS?
Schools that establish systems with the capacity to implement SWPBS with integrity and durability have teaching and learning environments that are less reactive, aversive, dangerous, and exclusionary, and more engaging, responsive, preventive, and productive. Address classroom management and disciplinary issues (e.g., attendance, tardies, antisocial behavior), improve supports for students whose behaviors require more specialized assistance (e.g., emotional and behavioral disorders, mental health), and most importantly, maximize academic engagement and achievement for all students.

SCHOOL HOURS
The YubaGardens office opens at 7:30 AM each morning and closes at 3:30 PM each afternoon. Students may arrive on campus at 7:30 AM. Voice mail options are available 24 hours a day.
OFFICE TELEPHONE
The office maintains a phone that is available for student use. The student may not leave class without permission to come to the office and utilize the phone. The student must ask permission from the office to use the phone. Students will not be called out of class to take a telephone call. If a parent/guardian has an important message for the student, the school secretary will take the message and give it to the student. Only the parent/guardian or other persons listed on the student’s emergency card may leave a message for the student.
*Balloons/Flower can be a major disruption to school activities and students will not be called out of class or the items delivered to class during instructional time. A note will be sent to the student advising them to come to the office to pick up the item. The office will not be held responsible for lost, damaged, or stolen items.
STUDENT CONCERNS
If a student has a concern…There are many caring adults on campus who are available if a student is concerned about a situation or is experiencing difficulty with another student. Classroom situations are best resolved by the teacher; students should let the teacher know if they are having difficulty in a specific class. Other situations are best referred to the intervention office or an administrator. It is important that students report concerns in a timely manner, so that issues can be addressed and resolved before the end of the day.
HOW TO REPORT A CONCERN
Students should inform an adult of any situation that is a violation of the Warrior Handbook, California Education Code, and/or California Law. A student can always inform a teacher and administrator verbally or in writing. Students can choose to remain anonymous and should not hesitate to inform an adult regarding issues of safety. If a student is being bullied, they can either use the school website “STOP BULLYING” link, use the “Can Bullying” can located in the library, or report it directly to the intervention office.
MEDICATION SERVICES
Any medications brought to school must be left in the office unless a prescription clearly states that the medication must be in the student’s possession at all times (This includes inhalers).Permission to Assist in Administration of Medication must be completed and kept on file in the office for medicines, including over the counter medications. It is the student’s responsibility to get their medications on time. We are more than willing to assist whenever possible.
TRANSPORTATION
Students are to ride the same bus everyday. If you need to ride another bus on a particular day, you are required to bring a note from home and have it approved by the office before leaving school. Riding the bus is a privilege. “Bus transportation is a privilege extended only to students who display good conduct while preparing to ride, riding or leaving the bus.Continued disorderly conduct or persistent refusal to submit to the authority of the driver shall be sufficient reason for a student to be denied transportation.” BP 5131.1
FOOD SERVICES / CAFETERIA
Both breakfast and lunch are served daily. Breakfast will be served from 7:30 - 7:50 am and at morning recess for a nominal cost on a sliding scale. Students may choose to bring their own lunch, purchase the school lunch for up to $1.25, or buy individual lunch items. Good table manners and cleaning up after oneself are expected. No food shall be allowed outside the cafeteria at anytime.All questions concerning you child’s meals may be directed to the school cafeteria.
TARDINESS
All students who are tardy to school must report to the school office before going to class. The student must have a note from home explaining why they were late, or a parent/guardian may accompany the student to explain. Unexcused tardiness can result in a SARB referral.

STUDENT MATERIALS
In order to assure that each child is ready to learn and be successful for all classes, he/she should have the following:

Lined paper
Subject dividers
Pencils and pens (with pencil pouch)
Backpack
Textbooks are furnished by the school. They are expensive and therefore need to be used for several years. Please respect the rights of other students to have these texts in good condition. If a student loses or damages a textbook, he or she will have to pay for it.
BICYCLES AND SKATEBOARDS
Bicycles and skateboards are to be kept in the bike rack during the entire school day and are to be properly locked. Students are not allowed around the bike rack while school is in session. The school is not responsible for the security of the student’s bike or skateboard.
HALL PASSES
No student is to be in the hallways during class time without a valid pass located in the student planner. Students are to keep noise to a minimum while in hallways (this includes, before school, break, lunch, and after school).
EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITY STANDARDS FOR PARTICIPATION
It is our goal to encourage ALL students to participate in extracurricular activities i.e. Student Council, Student Body Officers, Year Book, Dances, and Sports. (Sports include flag football, basketball, track, wrestling and volleyball.) Academic success, proper conduct and citizenship are rewarded by participation in our school sports and extracurricular programs. To be eligible for participation:
- Students must be on at least the Blue Level in the Warrior Pride Program.
- Be in attendance at school the day of any school extra curricular activity.

Students who have 3.42 GPA or higher with no D's or F's may join California Junior Scholarship

SPORTING EVENTS
Students, who misbehave during any school activity or sporting event, will be asked to leave and possibly be suspended from school or the rest of the remaining afterschool activities to include dances and sporting events.
All volleyball and basketball seasons for YubaGardensIntermediateSchool, an entrance fee of $1.00 will be charged to any prospective attendee over the age of 11. Children under the age of 10 are free when accompanied by a paying adult. The $1.00 fee will only apply to sports that are played within the new gymnasium (Volleyball, Basketball).
DANCES
All scheduled dances are subject to postponement or cancellation with or without notice. School dances will normally be held on Thursdays from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Students may not have outstanding lunch charges, library charges, disciplinary action, pending or otherwise, in order to attend and must be on blue level or higher. Students must present a student body card to enter. Students must be in attendance the day of the dance. Students need to make arrangements for transportation home prior to a dance to ensure that students are picked up no later than 6:00 p.m. No student will be allowed into the dance after 15 minutes from the start time. Astudent may not leave until the dance ends or a parent arrives.
Dance Behavior Expectations
All school rules including dress codeandbehavioral expectations are enforced during the dances. Inappropriate behavior at a dance could result in a school suspension and loss of dance privileges. Dancing that involves excessive touching or inappropriate body movements deemed by school personnel to be not age appropriate will result in the following:

AWARDS AND HONORS
Students at YubaGardens receive recognition for positive attendance and academic excellence on a quarterly basis through the Warrior Pride Program. Our goal is to highlight those students who strive to maintain high academic and behavioral standards. The students are honored in a quarterly awards ceremony. Students will be recognized based on their Warrior Pride level and will receive various rewards and prizes.
STUDENT EXPECTATIONS
Every student has the right to be safe, secure, and comfortable while attending YubaGardens. AttendingYubaGardens encompasses the time the student leaves his/her door in the morning until the time he/she returns home at night. In order for students to feel safe, secure and comfortable, students must be responsible for their own actions and follow Warrior P.R.I.D.E.
Student responsibilities:
- Students should come to school ready to learn with proper supplies: binder, pencil, paper, and positive attitude to learn.
- Be on time to class and in their assigned seat when the bell rings.
- Have respect for adults, other students, and yourself: no arguing in the classroom or the playground.
- Keep the campus free from litter, graffiti, damage and theft.

STUDENT BEHAVIOR
YubaGardens will not tolerate any comments or gestures which are vulgar or obscene or which discriminate against others on account of sex, race, color, sexual orientation, religion, ancestry, national origin, handicap or disadvantage. Students shall be subject to disciplinary procedures for bullying other students or for using insults, slurs, or fighting words that may disrupt school activities. Students will be held accountable for following school rules and should be aware that not understanding a rule or not knowing about it is not an acceptable excuse for misbehavior. If you do not understand any of the school rules or have questions about them, you should make an appointment with an administrator. (See school discipline matrix in the back of the handbook)

STUDENTS WILL BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR BEHAVIOR TO AND FROM SCHOOL AS WELL AS DURING SCHOOL HOURS AND SCHOOL-SPONSORED EVENTS.
The following is a list of some of the types of behavior that are not acceptable at YubaGardens and may result in disciplinary action including suspension or expulsion:

- Bringing a toy gun or replica of a gun to school
- Bullying
- Causing, attempting to cause, or threatening to cause physical injury to another person
- Cutting in lines at lunch
- Cyber Bullying
- Disrupting classes, students, and teachers
- Failing to bring school materials to class
- Failure to complete detention
- Failure to follow directions
- Fighting, encouraging students to fight, watching fights, video-taping fights, posting fights online
- Firecrackers
- Gambling
- Gang-related activities
- Gum chewing
- Hand-holding, kissing, and hugging
- Leaving campus without a pass
- Not paying attention or participating in class
- Possessing a dangerous object
- Stealing
- Stink-bombs
- Possessing, using, selling, or being under the influence of a controlled
- substance or alcoholic beverageSpreading rumors
- Tagging
- Tardies to school or between classes
- Taunting or teasing with the intent to hurt or embarrass others
- Threats and intimidation
- Throwing food or littering on campus
- Throwing or shooting objects harmful to school property or another student or staff member
- Truancies
- No whistling loudly in hallways or blacktop
- Unnecessary physical contact such as shoving, kicking, horseplay
- Vandalism
- Vulgar gestures
- Weapons of any kind
- Willfully using force or violence on
another person
- Sexual harassment
- Smoking
- Spitting

FIGHTING
Fighting is not tolerated at YubaGardens. Any student that is mutually involved in a fight with another student will receive the following:
- 1st fight student will receive 3-5 days of suspension (Placed on a site contract)
- 2nd fight will receive a 5 day suspension, and possible recommendation for expulsion
ENCOURAGING/WATCHING/RUNNING TOWARDS A FIGHT
Encouraging fighting is a serious offense. Even if the student does not take part in a fight, but was encouraging it, he or she will be suspended for no less than 3 days. If students are caught watching a fight, they may be suspended

RUMORS AND GOSSIP
Rumors and gossip can be very destructive in middle schools. If students spread rumors and idle gossip that can hurt feelings, or cause anger, serious problems may arise. Show consideration and caring for others by not participating in such activities. If you hear strange stories, or of possible problems that might cause harm to others, please report it to a responsible adult. If students who are perpetuating rumors distract or disrupt the educational process, they will be suspended.
CYBER-BULLYING
Cyber-bullying can include email messages, instant messaging, text messaging, cell phone communication, internet blogs, chat rooms, postings, web sites, or other means of communication through technology that:
- Deliberately threatens, harasses, intimidates or in any way ridicules an individual or group.
- Places someone in fear of being harmed or fear of damage to their personal property.
- Disrupts the orderly operation of the school.
- Sends mean, vulgar or threatening messages or images.
- Posts sensitive, private information about another person without their permission.
- Allows someone to pretend to be someone else in order to make that person look bad.
If you believe you or one of your friends is being cyber-bullied you should tell a school staff member, teacher, assistant principal or principal.
School authorities have the legal right and the responsibility to search any student when/if they have reason to believe the student is in possession of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, weapons, items belonging to someone else, or anything else that is inappropriate for a safe school setting. If any such items are found it is the responsibility of school authorities to seize the item. (Penal Code
62610).The school may also enlist the services of law enforcement to search for illegal substances.
