FEB. 20 / THE VEGETARIAN RESOURCE GROUP SCHOLARSHIP For students who have promoted vegetarianism in their schools and/or communities. Vegetarians do not eat meat, fish, or fowl. Two awards of $5,000 each will be given. Entries may only be sent by students graduating from high school in spring 2011.
FEB. 26 / GIRLS GOING PLACES ENTREPRENEURSHIP AWARD PROGRAM This annual Guardian's initiative is designed to reward the enterprising spirits of girls ages 12 to 18. Guardian awards prizes to 15 girls who demonstrate budding entrepreneurship; are taking the first steps toward financial independence; and make a difference in their schools and communities.

MAR. 1 / ILLINOIS AMVETS SERVICE FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP Student must be an Illinois high school seniors and have taken the ACT. This is a one-year $1,000 non-renewable scholarship. Preference will be given to all applicants who are a child or grandchild of a Veteran.
MAR. 1 / ILLINOIS AMVETS TRADE SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP Student must be an Illinois high school senior who has been accepted in a pre-approved trade school program. A copy of an acceptance letter must accompany the application. This is a one-year $1,000 non-renewable scholarship. MAR. 1 / ILLINOIS AMVETS SAD SACKS NURSING SCHOLARSHIP Student must be an Illinois high school senior who has been accepted into a pre-approved nursing program. A copy of an acceptance letter must accompany the application. The student must prove satisfactory in academic record, character, interest and activity record, and financial need. This is a one-year scholarship, amount to be determined. Priority will be given to the dependent of a deceased or disabled Veteran.

Criteria: graduating senior, resides in Illinois, enrolling at community college or university/college, descendant of a male who served honorably in the Confederate States of America, 500 word essay.
MAR. 16 / MAXPREPS CITIZEN ATHLETE – ARMY NATIONAL GUARD Requirements: be a high school student (9-12) and participate on a sport team covered by MaxPreps. The awards are based on four main areas of life: community service, academics, athletics and school involvement. While the recipients of this award may not be the often-heralded MVP on their athletic team, they are MVPs in life… making a positive difference in all they do. Ten winners will be selected to receive a $2,500 scholarship!

MAR. 20 / HELEN WRIGHT WOODSTOCK FINE ARTS SCHOLARSHIP Require 2-3 letters of recommendation, counselor signature on application, and essay. Applicant must be active in one or more of the Arts - performing arts, visual arts or literary arts.
MAR. 31 / CHARTER STUDENT SCHOLARSHIP Student interested in focusing on marketing, accounting, business administration and/or management, communications, computer technology, engineering, or related field at a post-secondary institution. Must maintain a 3.0/4.0 gpa. Two (2) letters of recommendation and a 250 word essay required.

LUKE SCHOLARSHIP For students enrolled in Engineering Program at a university/college that has been accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology as a full time student. APRIL 15 / FRIENDSOF MCC – PRAIRIE COMMUNITY BANK SCHOLARSHIP Criteria: graduate of MCHS class of 2011, first in family to attend college, demonstrate financial need, and 9/12 gpa after 7 semesters. Essay required.

Criteria: a 3.0/4.0 gpa and have talent, experience & interest in academic and extra-curricular activities. Essay required. This is a scholarship for 60 credit hours of tuition at MCC and requires a service hour requirement.
