FEB. 20 / THE VEGETARIAN RESOURCE GROUP SCHOLARSHIP For students who have promoted vegetarianism in their schools and/or communities. Vegetarians do not eat meat, fish, or fowl. Two awards of $5,000 each will be given. Entries may only be sent by students graduating from high school in spring 2011.FEB. 26 / GIRLS GOING PLACES ENTREPRENEURSHIP AWARD PROGRAM This annual Guardian's initiative is designed to reward the enterprising spirits of girls ages 12 to 18. Guardian awards prizes to 15 girls who demonstrate budding entrepreneurship; are taking the first steps toward financial independence; and make a difference in their schools and communities.

MAR. 1 / ILLINOIS AMVETS SERVICE FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIP Student must be an Illinois high school seniors and have taken the ACT. This is a one-year $1,000 non-renewable scholarship. Preference will be given to all applicants who are a child or grandchild of a Veteran.

MAR. 1 / ILLINOIS AMVETS SAD SACKS NURSING SCHOLARSHIP Student must be an Illinois high school senior who has been accepted into a pre-approved nursing program. A copy of an acceptance letter must accompany the application. The student must prove satisfactory in academic record, character, interest and activity record, and financial need. This is a one-year scholarship, amount to be determined. Priority will be given to the dependent of a deceased or disabled Veteran.

MAR. 16 / MAXPREPS CITIZEN ATHLETE – ARMY NATIONAL GUARD Requirements: be a high school student (9-12) and participate on a sport team covered by MaxPreps. The awards are based on four main areas of life: community service, academics, athletics and school involvement. While the recipients of this award may not be the often-heralded MVP on their athletic team, they are MVPs in life… making a positive difference in all they do. Ten winners will be selected to receive a $2,500 scholarship!
