1.3ACTION AND INFORMATIONAL SUBMITTALS

.1Submit samples in accordance with Section 013300- Submittal Procedures.

.2Product Data:

.1Submit manufacturer's instructions, printed product literature and data sheets for acoustical suspension, acoustic panels, acoustic tiles, and system accessories. Include product characteristics, performance criteria, physical size, finish and limitations.

.3Shop Drawings:

.1Submit reflected ceiling plans for special grid patterns as indicated.
.2Indicatelay-out , insert and hanger spacing and fastening details, splicing method for main and cross runners, location of access splines, change in level details, access door dimensions, and locations, and lateral bracing and accessories, acoustical unit support at ceiling fixture.

.4Samples:

.1Submit for review and acceptance of each component specified or necessary for complete installation. Include technical descriptive data.
.2Submit duplicate 150 mm x 100 mm samples ofeach type of acoustical unit.

1.4REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS

.1Fire-resistance rated floor/ceiling and roof/ceiling assembly: certified by a Canadian Certification Organization accredited by Standards Council of Canada.

1.5MOCK-UP

.1Construct mock-ups in accordance with Section 01 45 00 - Quality Control.

.2Construct mock-up 10 m2 minimum of each type acoustical tile ceiling including: one inside corner, one outside corner.

.3Construct mock-up where directed.

.4Allow two (2) working days for inspection of mock-up by Owner’s Representative before proceeding with ceiling work.

.5When accepted, mock-up will demonstrate minimum standard for this work. Mock-up may remain as part of the finished work.

1.6ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

.1Permit wet work to dry before commencement of installation.

.2Maintain uniform minimum temperature of 15˚C and humidity of 20 - 40% before and during installation.

.3Store materials in work area 48 hours prior to installation.

1.7EXTRA MATERIALS

.1Provide extra materials of acoustic units in accordance with Section 01 78 00 - Closeout Submittals.

.2Provide acoustical units amounting to 2% of gross ceiling area for each pattern and type required for project.

.3Extra materials to be from same production run as installed materials.

.4Clearly identify each type of acoustic unit, including colour and texture.

.5Deliver to Owner’s Representative, upon completion of the work of this section.

.6Store where directed by Owner’s Representative.

1.8CLOSEOUT SUBMITTALS

.1Provide maintenance data for acoustical ceilings for incorporation into manual specified in Section 01 78 00 – Closeout Submittals.

1.9DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING

.1Deliver, store and handle materials in accordance with Section 01 61 00- Common Product Requirements.

.2Delivery and Acceptance Requirements: deliver materials to site in original factory packaging, labelled with manufacturer's name and address.

.3Replace defective or damaged materials with new.

.4Store extra materials required for maintenance, where directed by Owner’s Representative.

1.10COORDINATION

.1Do not begin erection of ceiling suspension system until work above ceiling has been inspected by Owner’s Representative.

Part 2PRODUCTS

2.1MATERIALS

.1Acoustic units for suspended ceiling system: to ATSM E1264.

.1Type 3.
.2Pattern as selected by Owner’s Representative.
.3Flame spread rating of 25 or less in accordance with CAN/ULC-S102.
.4Smoke developed 50 or less in accordance with CAN/ULC-S102.

.5Noise reduction coefficient (NRC) designation of 0.55 to 0.65.

.6Ceiling Attenuation Class (CAC), in accordance with ASTM E1264.

.7Light reflectance range of 25.

.8Edge type square.

.9Colour white.

.10Size 610 x 1220 x 19 mm thick.

.11Shape flat.

.2Hold down clips: purpose made clips to secure tile to suspension system, approved for use in fire-rated systems.

Part 3EXECUTION

3.1EXAMINATION

.1Do not install acoustical panels and tiles until work above ceiling has been inspected by Owner’s Representative.

3.2INSTALLATION

.1Install acoustical panels and tiles in ceiling suspension system.

.2In fire rated ceiling systems, secure lay-in panels with hold-down clips and protect over light fixtures, diffusers, air return grilles and other appurtenances according to Certification Organizations design requirements.

3.3APPLICATION

.1Install acoustical units parallel to building lines with edge unit not less than 50% of unit width. Refer to reflected ceiling plan.

.2Scribe acoustic units to fit adjacent work butt joints tight, terminate edges with moulding.

3.4INTERFACE WITH OTHER WORK

.1Coordinate with Section 09 53 00.01 – Acoustical Suspension.

.2Co-ordinate ceiling work to accommodate components of other sections, such as light fixtures, diffusers, speakers, sprinkler heads, to be built into acoustical ceiling components.

3.5COMMISSIONING

.1Train user staff in the care, cleaning and replacement of acoustical ceiling tile.

.2Acceptance of maintenance material turned over to owner.
