Standard Broadcast “Quad-Caster” Model QC-4A

There is a way to get High Fidelity AM with low power using inductive coupling to the AM broadcast receiver. All of your favorite music can be heard through your favorite AM radio once again. Quad Casters RF wand couples its high quality broadcast signal to the AM radio’s tuner circuitry. Remember the sound from floor model Zenith radios, that glowed in the dark? Maybe you have a favorite table radio or transistor portable that sounded great when radio stations broadcast music.

Now the best part, you can build your own Quad Caster with our model QC-4A electronic kit.

Quad Caster generates (4) broadcast channels at 750, 1000, 1250 and 1500 on your radio dial. You connect your I-pod, CD player, Cassette player or Turntable to the (4) RCA audio input jacks and you are “ON THE AIR” with music or talk programming of your choice.

Each of the four RF Wands, have a 10 foot RG-174U shielded cable. Simply place the wand next to the radio you want to listen to.

You can even broadcast in discrete AM stereo using one frequency designated as Left channel and another frequency designated Right channel.

This product complies with FCC part 15 rules using the inductive coupling method. Placing the RF Wand next to the AM receiver’s antenna, couples a full audio fidelity signal to your favorite radio. The QC-4A contains four crystal controlled test oscillators with (4) awesome modulators.

A 10 MHz crystal oscillator feeds the Digital frequency dividers and RF mixers. The digital oscillator provides accurate and stable dial position.

The (4) RF amplifiers consists of an FET driving a PNP transistor. The RF drive and output transistor are modulated for exceptional clarity and audio definition.

Each series modulator uses two transistors, an op-amp and two DC supplies. The negative modulator transistor supplies carrier with a 5 volt regulated supply. The positive modulator adds positive modulation peaks with a 12 volt regulated supply. Positive modulation peaks of 130% are possible.

Audio pre-emphasis of 50 micro-seconds adds brightness to the typical restricted bandwidth AM receiver.

A single 12 volt regulated wall wart supplies power to all four RF oscillator channels.

Making these high quality broadcast modulated oscillators available in kit form,is a fun and rewarding project for us.

The (4) inductive RF wands are assembled here at MOORETRONIX. Each factory tuned RF Wand includes a 10 foot RG174U cable.

A clear set of instructions,schematics and photographs assure kit success. All necessary parts to build the QC-4A are supplied in this kit.

A DVM and a 25 MHz oscilloscope with 10:1 probe will aid with final testing and mixer alignment.

We chose to use through-hole construction with this kit. Surface mount components are best left to automated assembly techniques.

Simple hand tools and a soldering station is all that’s required to build this kit.
