QUOTES FROM DENVER BRONCOS MEDIA SESSION

QUARTERBACK BROCK OSWEILER

(on Denver Quarterbacks Coach Greg Knapp) “The biggest thing with Coach (Greg) Knapp is he doesn’t want anything to change this week versus something that we would do in the regular season week of preparation back in Denver. Coach Knapp has done a tremendous job this week as far as keeping our schedules as regular as possible. The drills that we do at practice, the way he coaches and the energy that he brings, because he brings a ton of energy at practice. He’s a ton of fun to be around. At the same time, I’ve grown in leaps and bounds this year with what Coach Knapp is talking about on the practice field. He’s done a great job of just keeping things the same this week and just preaching the same message.”

(on what he has done this week) “We came in Sunday night. Just going back to what Coach Knapp and Peyton (Manning) have preached, just trying to keep your week the same. Usually after a game back in Denver, I’ll go to dinner or something like that. I was able to pop over to Manhattan and go to dinner with some of the guys on the team. We found a great little restaurant and just let loose for a little bit. Outside of that, the week’s been pretty regimented and been all football.”

(on if his family and friends will be at the game) “Yeah, in fact they’re all coming in today on the family plane, so I’ll see them Friday night for dinner. But outside of that, like I said, it’s been a busy work week. You don’t want to have any regrets with a game like this, or any game for that matter. So any free time I can get, I’m in my iPad watching film and my playbook just in case something happens.”

(on his pregame ritual) “As far as pregame rituals go, I don’t do anything crazy like eat gummy bears four minutes before kickoff or something like that. But as far as the review that I do on Saturday leading up to the game, and Sunday morning the quick review I do before kickoff, all of that is going to be the same. That’s really what our coaching staff has preached this week. Peyton’s preached it. Keep your schedule as regular as possible. So I really don’t think anything is going to change.”

(on how many times he has been on the field goal blocking team) “One time. It was at New England. Obviously I did not block the kick because we lost the game. That pretty much sums it up. We actually practiced it one time in practice, going all the way back to our bye week. It was Week 8, 7, 9? Somewhere in there. We practiced it one time just in case that situation came up, and it did a few weeks later. Like I said, unfortunately we were unsuccessful.”

(on Seattle QB Russell Wilson) “Going back to college, Russell’s always been a tremendous football player. He’s been a great quarterback, he’s been a great leader. So the success that he’s had in the NFL isn’t the least bit surprising to me. I’m very happy for him with everything that he’s accomplished. I’m sure he’s going to go on to have a great career, and I wish nothing but the best for him.”

(on if height matters as a quarterback) “I don’t know, that’s hard to say. I believe every quarterback has a special skillset, especially in the National Football League. There’s a reason why he’s (Wilson) in the NFL. There’s a reason why a team drafted him and signed him. There’s a lot of things that you can’t grade, or weigh or judge at the combine, and things like that. I think Russell’s a perfect example.”

(on potentially being too tall to play quarterback) “Actually going all the way back to high school when I was trying to decide if I was going to play college basketball or college football, that was something that was brought up. You know, ‘Hey, if you continue to grow and you’re 6’8”, 6’9”, 6’10”, you might be too tall.’ Fortunately, I stopped growing a little after 6’7”, so it wasn’t an issue.”

(on if he thought about being the tallest offensive player in football and playing on the same team as Denver WR Trindon Holliday, the NFL’s shortest player) “I haven’t. Trindon is a tremendous punt returner, kick returner, receiver for us. He’s very dynamic. We can line him up all over the field. In special teams, he does great things for us. Trindon’s a great player.”
