Aim / To acknowledge and celebrate excellence in policing research and scholarship by members of the BSC and BSC Policing Network. In particular, the panel will look for the advancement of policing studies, either through innovations in theory, methodology or the application of research in a sole-authored journal article. / To acknowledge and encourage excellence in policing research and scholarship through collaboration of members of the BSC. In particular, the panel will look for a valuable contribution to the field of policing studies through the publication of a joint-authored journal article.
Eligibility criteria / Applicants:
- must be the sole author of a peer reviewed journal article;
- can be at any stage of their career;
- must be members of the BSC and the BSC Policing Network;
- may nominate themselves,
though others may nominate them with the applicant’s permission.
The article:
- must be on the police or policing;
- must be published within the last twelve months i.e. between 1 January 2016 and 31 December 2016 (either electronic or hard copy – whichever publication came first). / Applicants:
- must be joint authors of a peer reviewed journal article - there is no limit to the number of authors involved;
- can submit papers with international colleagues and non-BSC members BUT at least one author needs to be a member of the BSC;
- all authors must be members of the Policing Network ;
- can be at any stage of their career
- may nominate themselves, though others may nominate them with the applicants’ permission;
- those who nominate must be members of the BSC.
The article:

How to apply? / Nominations, including a 250 word supporting statement outlining how the applicant meets the eligibility criteria and a PDF of the journal article, should be sent to the co-ordinators of prizes for the BSC Policing Network, Layla Skinns () and Tara Lai Quinlan().

How will the winner be determined? / The article will be judged against the aims of the prize by members of the steering committee of the BSC Policing Network.
