Board of Commissioners Meeting
July 15th, 2015/Prophetstown Park District
A meeting of the Prophetstown Park District Board of Commissioners was held on July 15th,2015 at the Prophetstown Park District. Those present included President Jason Taylor, Treasurer Sandy Johnson, Carl Weidel and Beverly Cooper. Director Karyn Sommers-Buck was also present. Vice President Tom Green and Bookkeeper Elyse Morris were absent.The meeting was called to order at 7:00 p.m.
Public: Questions about the Grove Street parking lot
The June 17th, 2015 minutes were read and discussed. Commissioner Weidel made a motion to accept and was seconded by Commissioner Johnson, the motion carried.
The Treasurer’s Report was discussed, Commissioner Johnson made motion to accept, and Commissioner Weidel seconded, the motion carried.
Correspondence: Treasurer/Commissioner Johnson brought new signature cards from the bank in regards to changing of the officers on the board. Paperwork was signed and left for Justine Meier, Facility Manager to sign and turn back into the bank.
Report from Commissioner's -Commissioner Johnson – wondering about the schedule for putting the wibit hand in the pool-try for every other weekend – so 25/26 this month; Commissioner Weidel asked about pricing out new jerseys for all star baseball/softball teams; Commissioner Taylor asked about lifeguard's getting reimbursed for fees for certification-tabled until next month; Commissioner Cooper asked about wibit hand as well, asked who District lawyer is, shelf in shower area, pointed out that we may want to look at a stick step on tile on top of steps, possible to put a sign about backing into pool on shallow end ladder if not comfortable or steady.
Director’s Report 5K and Streetscape had great turnout, best year yet for both events, Dud Drummet has 14 teams-all is organized and ready for play, mower quotes for next month from Birkey's, Flag Football and Soccer forms are available at Park District and on our website-play will start the week after Labor Day, forms due August 24th; Girls Fall Basketball League is being promoted-5th -8th Grade, play to start in early October; Director went to school board meeting to talk about various issues on their campus that need attention-continued discussion with them on tennis courts and their intentions.

Current Building/Grove Street Property: Get a complete update on progress of gravel -will come back to add if settles in and for how long-timeline; parking lot will be used during football games, try to get a plan in place for “parking stalls” so there aren't any issues, talk to school or city.
New Business –Motion to go into Executive Session by Commissioner Weidel to discuss employees second by Commissioner Johnson, all in favor. Motion to come out Commissioner Johnson, seconded by Commissioner Cooper, all in favor. Employee raises were proposed, Director was given a one time payment towards retirement of $500 and salary increased by $3500 for a total of $42,000 for the year. Starting wage for all lifeguards will be $8.25 with an annual increase of $.25, 4 attendants , along with Summer Maintenance Carter Ames, will be given an increase of $.50 to their hourly wage. Employee Heather Bruns will be given the title of Fitness and Activity Manager with a wage increase to go with added responsibilities., motion carried.
A motion to adjourn was made by Commissioner Weidel and seconded by Commissioner Johnson, the motion carried.
