2. SSWA Report
Murray Farr gave a snapshot of 2015.
Busy year – SHSCW tiered groups worked well again.
Many interstate teams did well – many 3rdplaces;1st in Rugby League & Goal Ball; Pacific School Games very highly successful for the students –some organisational aspects need attention in the future 2017 PSG (TF instead of Swimming)
2016 National Hostings – Baseball - Perth,Touch Football - Mandurah, Soccer – Lark Hill)

4.1 Volleyball grading / Changed the grading so #1 teams didn’t play each other, worked well / Continue

5. Business arising – Regional Delegates Meeting (24 September)
5.1 Active Achievers / DSR have stopped funding AA program from 2016 (reason is that they are concentrating on inclusion funding only) SSWA can continue the AA Awards.Should we have a leadership forum instead/ as well? / Add to School Delegates meeting agenda
5.2Basketball shortened game time for grading / 2 x 10 min halves (3 mins for half time in grading/ 5 mins in comp) / Implement for 2016
5.3 Netball game times / 2,3,2 min breaks in games; keep 3 min half time for grading games) / Implement for 2016
5.4 Volleyball Rotation Rules / Add these into Bulletin / Add these into Bulletin
5.5 Badminton / Suggestion to have teams as 4 a side, playing 4 singles matches and 2 doubles matches / Implement for 2016

5.7 AFL – forcing bigger schools to 12/side suggestion / All 9/side? More games, rotate 12 through the team, encourage 2 teams, field size stays the same / All teams 9/side

5.7 Grading – coordinator discretion / Netball – meet with schools to discuss after the grading days – if there is a team that is obviously graded wrongly / Coordinator has the discretion in consultation with coaches to alter grading
5.8 Mercy Rule – Basketball / Make it 30 points not 20 points / Implement for 2016

  • Early starts
  • Volleyball Duty – discussion – cost consideration
  • Netball WA – catering is in place in 2016. Van was too expensive and variety of food was poor.
  • Thursday Post event Meeting – location - discussion

  • Shouldn’t be a problem to start fixtures earlier in some sports
  • Check with Volleyball schools to see if there was an appetite for providing more students to assist.
  • Talk with Netball regarding improving the catering
  • Meeting stays at the Rugby Clubrooms. Bulletin:Plan for a staff member to be in attendance at this meeting

7.1 Eastern (Meryon Montgomery) / Most happy – trying to encourage more schools to attend
7.2 Midlands (Trent Lockyer) / -
7.3 Midwest (Chris Dougall) / One school – Southern Cross to come back in
7.4Northern (Phil Epps) / There is a lot of transition staff in the area who don’t know much about it so need to have discussions with the schools around ethos.
8.General Business
8.1 Finances / DHS ran at a loss in 2015 – due to increased Netball costs – court hire costs and the purchase of Perpetual Shields.
Motion: Increase the levy to $40/per student
