Research Interests: Upper Gondwana plant Mega Fossils, Biodiversity, Phytogeography, Palaeoecology and Palaeoclimatology
Research areas: Research work done mainly on plant mega fossils of Jurassic-Cretaceous deposits of various sedimentary basins of Indiaviz,
●RajmahalBasin (Bihar),
●Mahanadi and Krishna –Godavari basins, East Coast
● South Rewa and Satpura basins, Madhya Pradesh
●Cuticular study of gymnospermous(Conifer and Bennettitalean ) leaves ● Study of biodegradation of leaf cuticles
Presently working on Kachchh and Saurashtra basins of Western Indiaunder the five year plan projects of the Institute.
ResearchExperience:
Thirty years of research experience in the field of Indian Mesozoic Gondwana plant mega fossils. Major part of the research includes palaeo-floristic (palaeo-vegetation analysis), biostratigraphy, phytogeography, age determination and palaeoecological interpretations.
Field Experience Extensive field experience on geological excursions undertaken for collection of plant megafossils throughout Indiaviz.,Rajmahal (Jharkhand); Mahanadi, Krishna-Godavari basins (East–Coast), Satpura–SouthRewa basins (Madhya Pradesh),Kachahh and Saurashtra basins (Gujarat),India
