No. 2176 CycLocker

Bicycle Locker shall be TimberForm® CycLocker® model No. 2176 in the bicycle capacity, material and color finish selected by the owner's representative and in the quantity shown on the bill of materials or the project drawings. Manufacturer, Columbia Cascade Company, 1300 SW Sixth Avenue, Suite 310, Portland OR 97201-3464 U.S.A.

1. Materials

Each two-bicycle unit shall consist of a top and exterior walls, two doors and door frames, and a partition. For each additional contiguous two-bicycle unit, a top, two doors and door frames, a partition and one interior wall assembly are included.

a)Top and Exterior Walls: Top and exterior walls shall be 14 gauge steel with edges hemmed and ground smooth and ends formed. All seams shall be welded and ground smooth.

b)Doors: Doors shall be 14 gauge steel with edges and ends hemmed and formed. Door frame shall be 1/8 inch thick formed steel. All seams shall be continuously welded and ground smooth. Hinge shall be 14 gauge stainless steel, continuous, "piano type" with 1/4 inch diameter stainless steel pin.

c)Unit Partition: Panel shall be 1/2 inch thick marine grade medium density overlaid plywood, natural color two sides.

d)Interior Partition (for multiple units): Interior partition framework shall be fabricated from 1/8 inch thick formed steel with all seams welded and ground smooth. Partition shall be 1/2 inch thick marine grade medium density overlaid plywood, natural color two sides, factory assembled to the frame.

e)Locking Mechanism: Door and frame assembly shall include a keyed lock and latch handle. Latch system shall be factory installed on doors and shall engage frame at head and sill when locked. Each lock shall be stainless steel and individually keyed. Each lock to incorporate an escape mechanism that can manually unlock the door from the inside of the locker unit without the use of tools.

f)Fasteners: All hardware shall be provided in sufficient quantity to complete assembly of the bicycle locker. All hardware shall be non-ferrous or galvanized or electrostatically zinc-plated in accordance with manufacturer's standard.

g)Anchoring System: Four bolt-down, leveling feet shall be supplied with each locker.

2. Construction

Bicycle frame with dividing rails and mounting hardware shall be permanently welded into separate units. Welds shall be smooth and continuous with no gaps or pin holes. Final products shall be free of weld spatters and burrs.

3. Finishes

Steel and cast iron parts shall be coated with CASPAX-7, a tough, opaque, UV resistant exterior grade polyester powder coating applied to a minimum thickness of 6 mils. Liquid, epoxy or lead-containing powder coatings are not acceptable.

Preparation of the mild steel substrate shall incorporate the phosphate system. Substrate preparation shall consist first of mechanical cleaning to remove heavy mill scale, rust, varnish, grease, etc., with surfaces uniformly abraded to promote quality of finish coating. Chemical cleaning in accordance with TT-C-490C, Methods I and III shall remove impurities from the surfaces.

After the two-step cleaning process, the metal substrate shall receive a corrosion-inhibiting iron phosphate pre-coating in accordance with TT-C-490C, Type II, prior to the application of the powder color coat. The color coating shall be applied by the electrostatic method and then oven-cured at 400 degrees Fahrenheit to chemically bond the coating to the substrate and to render the coated metal resistant to abrasion, impact, chipping, weathering, and rusting.
