NOTES FOR THE SPRING OPEN EXHIBITION 2017
DATE & LOCATION OF EXHIBITION
The BAS Spring Open Exhibition 2017 will be held over the weekend ofSaturday 8 -Sunday 9April2017 at The Fitzwilliams Centre, Windsor End, Beaconsfield HP9 2JW, with the preview evening on Friday 7 April from 6.30 – 9pm.
EXHIBITION ENTRY
Honorary Members: A maximum of 2 framed works or 2 large 3D works. No submission fee.
Members: A maximum of 5 framed or 5 large 3D worksand 4 unframed or 4 small 3D works. Submission fees: framed work & large 3D - £4.00 each, unframed (for browser) & small 3D works - £1.50 each. Members must have paid their annual subscription to BAS.
Non Members: A maximum of 2 framed works or 2 3D works. Submission fee: £6 per item.
Payment must be returned with the Entry Form, cheques payable to Bucks Art Society.
Submission fees are non-returnable.
BAS will deduct a commission of 30% on all sales. The clearance of purchasers’ cheques is at the artist’s risk.

INSURANCE
It is the responsibility of the individual artist to insure his/her own work, especially if fragile.Bucks Art Society will not be held responsibile for any damage caused to artworkswhile they are in our possession.For the purpose of BAS PublicLiability cover, exhibiting non-members will be regarded as full members for the duration of the exhibition.
ACCEPTABLE MEDIA & PRESENTATION
Only work listed on your Entry Form will be accepted. All work must be original work by the submitting artist and must not have been shown previously at BAS exhibitions.
2D work:
Acceptable media include paintings, drawings and original, limited edition prints. Acceptable prints include monoprints, collographs, etchings, aquatints, hand-made silk-screens, lino and stone lithographs, in editions up to 50 maximum. Photo silk-screen prints are not permitted.
Phototgraphy is not permitted . However, artworkswhich incorporate photographic or digital processes as part of the artwork arepermitted.
Mounted, signed and numbered, limited edition, giclée printsare accepted as browser artwork only and will be displayed in a separate browser.
3D work:
Scuplture and fineart 3D work are permitted.
Frames must be well constructed, of presentable appearance, and tautly strung using flat D-rings (no mirror plates required). Metal or clip-art frames and unframed canvases with visible staples or pins are not acceptable. Please do not use non-reflective glass unless museum quality. If any work exceedsone metre in any dimension, this should be noted on the Entry Form. Artists are advised that, although every effort will be made to hang all selected work, larger works can only be hung if space permits.
Artists must remove all protective packing materials prior to handing in. All framed paintings must be clearly labelled on the back with the title, medium, price, name, address and phone no of the artist. In addition, there should be a label attached by string (so as to hang over the front of the work) stating the name of the artist, title and price of the work.Unframed (browser) work should be labelled on the back with the same details and wrapped in clear film. Sculpture should be similarly labelled on the base.
ARTIST INFORMATION
Members are represented in the BAS Artist Information Book, which is displayed at all exhibitions. If your entry needs updating please send one or two A4 sheets for inclusion along with your entry.
SELECTION
All framed paintings and sculpture will be subject to selection by committee. Unframed work for browsers and small 3D works may also be subject to selection. Works by Honorary Members and works used in publicity are not subject to selection.

Please note that all work must be collected on Sunday 9 April, 5 - 7pm. Work not collected by the designated time will be stored at the artist’s risk at a charge of £1 per item per day.
EXHIBITION PROMOTION
Members local to Beaconsfield will be supplied with posters, please make an effort to display them in local shops, offices,window of your car, etc. Additional printed posters will be available to all members on request and will also be available as PDFs to download from the website. Email versions of invitations and posters will be sent to those with email for onward distribution to their own contacts.

INCENTIVE
We are offering a prize of up to £100 to be spent on an artwork of the winner’s choice to the first invitation card drawn on Sunday 9 April at 1pm. Please tell your guests about this so they know to bring their invitation. They will need to write their name, address and phone number on the reverse and pop the invitation into the box provided for the prize draw.
