Job Purpose:
To support the Faculty/ Professional Services Finance Team, offering accountancy support and general financial advice.
Key Accountabilities/Primary Responsibilities (6-10 bullet points maximum)
· Administer and co-ordinate the financial and budgetary requirements of a range of projects either internally funded or other externally funded contracts/grants. Preparation of reports and/or final accounting statements. Maintenance of projects in Agresso including ensuring project milestones are accurate. Raise invoices as required in a timely manner.
· Providing accounting support to faculties/professional services, including project costing and budgetary control reporting.
· Monthly analysis of salary costs, investigation of anomalies and correction of errors.
· Financial approval of transactions up to set limits
· Provide general financial advice to budget holders
· Assist with cash handling and income collection from students when required.
· Assist with Procure to Pay duties e.g. travel and expense claims, supplier invoices and payment queries when required.
· Other duties as required by the Faculty/Professional Services Finance Manager posts in a Research environment.
· Develop an up to date knowledge of the proposal and award stages of research grants. Produce research costings using Pfact and ensure accuracy of AAM data.
· Handle correspondence from funding bodies, investigators and administrators regarding grants/applications. / % Time
Internal & External Relationships: (nature & purpose of relationships)
· The post holder will be expected to act as part of a team with the other members of the Faculty/Professional Services Finance Team. Members will assist each other with their roles as necessary.
· Faculties/Professional Services – The nature of the post holder’s tasks will require frequent communication with Faculty/Professional Services based staff.
· Chief Financial Officer, Deputy Director and Assistant Director of Finance – in the carrying out of various ad-hoc tasks as required.
· Funding Bodies – in the administration of research contracts and recovery of monies due.

Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience:
Skill level equivalent to achievement of NVQ2, GCSE, City and Guilds.
Educated to A level standard or equivalent.

During the accounting year end period the post holder will need to be able to work fast with a high level of accuracy in order to meet a number of fixed deadlines. / X
