Dear Families of SSPP,
Greetings! We are finalizing our plans for Catholic Schools Week and ready to have a fun-filled week of activities. We hope you can join us for as many activities as possible. Please refer to the CSW agenda that was sent home in early January.
Our opening CSW liturgy will be at the 9:15 Mass on Sunday and we are asking students to wear their school uniform and sit in the front center of church. Our Open House and Donut Social will follow in the school/cafeteria. See you on Sunday.
The famous“Chimbote Cakewalk” is Monday, January 29th. We are asking all families to donate a cake for each child enrolled at SSPP. Each child will also win a cake during this event and bring it home for the family to enjoy! Monday is also Pajama Day (please bring the slippers to school and change). And do not forget those QUARTERS!
Please remember to respond if you are attending the Special Person’s Luncheon. We need to have an accurate count for lunch.
Extended Day will not be available on Friday, February 2nd due to the Faculty Appreciation Luncheon. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.
The PTG has been focusing on the 2nd semester fundraisers. The two fundraisers approaching quickly are the Fish Fry and the JJV Tournament. These two fundraisers bring in a large part of our annual fundraising monies and the expectation of volunteers assisting us is vital to the success of both events and our fundraising goal. Please be prepared to volunteer and share the workload of a few who have worked these fundraisers for many, many years. We hope to see some new families volunteer (new to SSPP and new to volunteering).
Look for the brown grocery bags to come home with a list of requested donations to get us started. Also, check your email regularly for Sign-up-Genius to volunteer to work, volunteer the students to work (Fish Fry requirement), and for donating items.
Report Cards are coming home today. If there is a need to discuss any concerns with a teacher, please contact them via email or phone. It seems that we can limit our scheduled face to face parent/teacher conferences since we use OptionC. Please continue to monitor your child’s grades and at any time you have a concern do not hesitate to contact the teacher.
Forensics Tournament: Our recent Forensics Tournament held at Holy Trinity School brought great results from our participating students: Lindsey Faulkner, Poetry: (two) first place ribbons, Mia Grisafi, Poetry: (one) second place ribbon & (one) third place ribbon, Michael Urban, Prose: (two) second place ribbons, RJ Ruckert, Declamation: (one) second place ribbon & (one) third place ribbon, Grace Lucci, Drama: (one) first place ribbon & (one) second place ribbon, Elizabeth Dacanay, Drama: (one) first place ribbon & (one) second place ribbon, Caroline Samchuck, Impromptu: (one) second place ribbon & (one) third place ribbon. The Multiple Reading group of Delanie O’Brien, Kaylee Slavik, Leah Duncan and Alaina Gerello won (two) second place ribbons.
Our basketball teams continue to compete against local Catholic Schools. Currently our Boys’ Varsity is in a tie for 1st place in their section and our Girls’ Varsity is undefeated and in first place in their section. GO PACERS!
Since Valentine’s Day falls on Ash Wednesday and the Department of Education’s National School Lunch Program will be at SSPP on Feb. 13th, we are actively researching the best day to celebrate these events. We will inform you after CSW.
Blessings, Cindy Baldrige
