Facebook Historical Figure Profile
Due Friday, May 12th
Task:
Create the layout of a Facebook page for a historical figure. You are not creating an actual Facebook page online; you are making a model of what it would look like on a poster board. You must submit your figure to me for approval. I will only allow one person per class period to have a historical figure. You will conduct research on your person and use that research to create your Facebook page. You will give a 2-4 minute presentation over your person in front of the class on May 12th-16th
Facebook page must include:
1. The person’s name and a profile status of that person.
2. The person’s picture (in color) with a quote by them below it. Also, a landscape picture behind the profile picture would be good, but it’s not mandatory.
3. The person’s relationship status, birthday, and current location.
4. A list of friends with pictures (in color) of those friends.
5. 1 blog or “note” on the wall where the person writes his/her opinion about an event that happened during his/her lifetime in at least 1 paragraphs.
6. Comments from at least 3 “friends” talking about this person’s life. Those people should be from the same time period as the particular person. Research is required.
7. At least 3 status updates on the wall.
8. You must cite sources used.
Cereal Box Project
Due Friday, May 12th
Task:
You will decorate a cereal box using research about a historical figure that we have talked about from this year. You will need to use pictures (in color), quotes, and specific information about the person (I.E. date of birth, what era they lived in, significant events in their life). Your sources must be cited somewhere on the box. You must submit your figure to me for approval. I will only allow one person per class period to have the same historical figure. The front, back, sides, and top of the box must be decorated with pictures, information from research, and quotes from the person or time period. You will give a 2-4 minute presentation over your research topic on May 12th-16th
Movie Poster Project
Due Friday, May 12th
For this assignment, you will create a movie poster that advertises the historical figure of your choosing. You will be graded on your creativity, attention to detail, as well as the information that you provide. The poster should look like one that you would see in theatres—informative, eye-catching, and interesting to the viewer.
MATERIALS: Poster board Markers / Colored pencils
REQUIREMENTS:
1. Your poster must contain original art or pictures printed from the internet. You need at least one main graphic but may choose to include more.
2. Must be in full color. No pencil!
3. Title of historical figure’s name must be visible.
4. At least one “review” quote from a critic about the story. This should be made-up and is intended to draw the viewer’s interest. No more than 2 sentences.
5. Include a “tagline” for the story. This should act as a “teaser”—make it short and catchy.
6. You must have a two paragraph summary of the historical figure attached to the back of the poster. Source citations must also be attached to the poster.
7. Be creative and have fun with this!
DO NOT:
· Submit a poster board smaller than standard size or larger than 22x28 (no trifold boards)
· Leave white/blank space on your poster. It should be completely filled and neat
Things to remember:
· Don’t wait until the last minute to start. It is a 5 point late penalty per day it is late.
· Library resources for research. All sources must be cited!
· Put some flare into your project, it is supposed to be fun so make it fun!!!
· Mrs. Alvarado or Mrs. Svarda would love to help you.
