Title: Quality & Patient Safety Coordinator

SUMMARY
The Quality & Safety Division Coordinator will work with the Senior Director of Quality and Process Improvement to provide routine support for the CMS Hospital Improvement Innovation Network (HIIN) Contract. The Division Coordinator will assist with meeting the HIIN contract deliverables as identified in the MHA Hospital Improvement Innovation Network Contract Scope of Work. Coordinator will also work on additional projects/research as identified by the Quality/Safety division.
About MHA QPS Division
The Minnesota Hospital Association represents 142 hospital and health systems across the state of MN and is in its 97thyear of leading this work. The MHA Board of Directors is made up of CEOs and Senior Executives from Hospital and Health Systems across MN. The Quality and Patient Safety (QPS) Division at the Minnesota Hospital Association was one of the first divisions created within a Hospital Association in the nation to focus on continuous quality and patient safety improvements 15 years ago. The work of this division has led to numerous quality improvements not just across MN but across the nation and through its work MN has received many local and national awards including: the 2015 Dick Davidson Quality Milestone Award, andtwo Eisenberg awards: 2006 for Minnesota Alliance for Patient Safety (MAPS), and 2013 for Reducing Avoidable Readmissions Effectively (RARE).The QPS Division also successfully won the Hospital Engagement Network contract from CMS in 2011 and more recently through its work, MHA was one of 16 National organizations to received HIIN funding to continue the nation leading work in quality and patient safety. The QPS division is led by a VP of Quality and Patient Safety who has been with MHA for over 17 years and the Chief Medical Officer of MHA. The QPS Division has multiple Quality Committees, that work on specific quality topics such as Falls, Medication, Sepsis, Perinatal etc. All these Committees report into an overarching QPS Committee which reports directly into the MHA Board of Directors.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.
Requires interaction with staff, members, subcontractors, and external stakeholders and experts to assist with meeting contract deliverables, including all reports, in addition to projects/research as identified by Quality/Safety division. Position will include up to 10% local travel.
Essential functions to provide support to MHA and members include but are not limited to the following:
· Coordinate and complete contract deliverables
· Research, gather and develop pertinent information to write and develop monthly, mid-year, final and ad hoc reports and monthly newsletter
· Coordinate projects as identified, including but not limited to facilitating meetings, developing agendas, recording minutes, and following-up on action items.
· Coordination of a learning management system
· Assist and coordinate webinars, conference calls and education programs
· Help prepare presentations and materials Collaborate with CMS, CMS subcontractors, and other HIINs to position MHA as a national leader in the HIIN community.
· Research best practices, resources and tools for identified topics
· Set-up and manage Skype and other webinar platforms
· Other duties and tasks as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
· Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree, and two years of related experience preferred.

LANGUAGE ABILITY
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL ABILITY
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
COMPUTER SKILLS
Ability to use all Microsoft Office software and have in-depth knowledge of Word, Access, Excel, and PowerPoint
