1Job Purpose
1.1To coordinate and manage course information onto the services E-learning platform. The post holder will be responsible for providing support to Subject Matter Experts (SME) developing and creating consistent and exciting interactive E-learning packages and reporting systems.
The postholder will need to follow guidance for E-Learning modules and have an understanding of learning to facilitate and contribute to organisational effectiveness.
2Major Tasks
2.1E-learning system administrator/author & facilitator
1.To author, prepare, produce and upload eLearning modules that include training manuals, workbooks and visual aids to facilitate accessible and interesting learning material.
2.Working with Learning facilitators and SME’s in the design and development of comprehensive training materials to meet the needs of the Service
3.Provide guidance to SME’s on producing learning material to support
ELearning
4.To take responsibility for projects assigned to them, such as the research and evaluation of new training packages, advising on their suitability for the organisation’s needs.
5.The post holder is responsible for keeping up to date with current and proposed eLearning material created and making recommendations for its use within the service
6.To work with the Operational Training Delivery Manager to organise and prioritise ELearning programmes to develop and refine the content
7.To support the administration and development of the LMS (Learning Management System)
8.To work with Learning facilitators to manage learning needs that emerge from any learning needs analysis process
9.To evaluate the success of ELearning programmes to maintain continual improvement in access and delivery.
10.To maintain contact with other organisations using the same ELearning platform to share information
11.To develop a systematic approach when producing training/learning materials in order to meet targets determined by legislative changes, individual development plans e.g. induction programmes, new initiatives and policy.
12.The post holder will be required to have an understanding of learning theory, computer systems, software applications and the core skills required to enable employees to use the ELearning systems/platform successfully.
13.To provide clear and accurate instructions and guidance to support the development of ELearning packages and compile effective written communications such as procedures and training aids.
14.To identify improvements to procedures and working practices and advises on the necessary course of action to be taken making recommendations to Learning facilitators
3Other Tasks

3.7To make an effective contribution to the corporate aims of the Fire Authority.
3.8Maintain proper administrative procedures and records in accordance with Service policy, orders and instructions including documenting and recording work activity.
3.9Ensure that any defect of Service premises, accommodation, furnishings, vehicles fixtures and fittings are reported in accordance with specified procedures.
3.10To become involved in and to respond effectively to the changing requirements of the Authority.
3.11To carry out such other duties as may be directed, commensurate with the grading of the post.
4Job Overview

The job holder is directly responsible to the Operational Training Delivery Manager, but must have the ability to work on his/her own initiative within their general work program as set by the Operational Training Delivery Manager.
4.3Responsibilities
The postholder has no supervisory responsibilities.
5Conditions of Service
5.1The Conditions of Service will be those specified by the National Joint Council for Local Government Services as amended from time to time.
5.2The post is based atthe Training & Assurance Centre, Stafford Park Telford.
5.3The appointment is permanent, and is part-time for 18.5 hours weekly. A flexible working hour’s scheme is in operation and participation in the scheme is at the discretion of the Chief Fire Officer.
5.4This post carries eligibility to join the Local Government Superannuation Scheme subject to medical clearance. Information about this and other pension options will be enclosed with any formal offer of appointment.
5.5Annual holidays will be at the rate of 23 working days per annum with a further 5 days for those with five years’ service, plus additional discretionary days as determined by the Authority from time to time. Bank Holidays also apply.
5.6The appointment is subject to one month's notice on either side.
5.7The appointment is subject to the satisfactory completion of a six month probationary period for new entrants to Local Government service.
5.8Shropshire Fire and Rescue Service operates a total ban on smoking at work.
