The main role of Charterhouse Club is to manage the extensive indoor sports facilities for the benefit of the pupils of Charterhouse School and the local Godalming community and to provide the greatest possible opportunity to develop an active lifestyle, in a club environment, where people feel they really belong.

KEY OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
To assist the Charterhouse Crèche Manager in the safe, efficient and economic operation of Charterhouse Club Crèche.
ACCOUNTABLE
To the Crèche Manager
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- To supervise the Charterhouse Club Crèche to ensure the safety and welfare of all children left in their care at all times;
- Provide a suitable environment and activities to ensure the children are stimulated throughout their stay;
- To co-operate with the Crèche Manager to ensure that the correct ratio of supervision is maintained in all areas of the Crèche at all times and in accordance with the Ofsted Registration;
- Assist the Crèche Manager in the setting up and down of the Crèche prior to and after the opening hours;
- To maintain, at all times, the highest standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the Crèche and Crèche toilets;
- To inspect all play equipment whilst in use to ensure that it is maintained in a safe condition, and in accordance with the manufacturers recommendations and relevant health and safety legislation; all defects must be promptly reported to the Crèche Manager;
- To co-operate with the Company in all issues of health and safety under the provision of the Health & safety at Work Act 1974, Company Health & Safety Policy and any other subsequent and/or relevant legislation or Code of Practice in respect of the operation of the Club;
- To adhere to the Normal and Emergency Operating Procedures for the Crèche at all times;
- Assist in the maintenance of all records and signing in and out procedures as required by the Crèche Manager;
- To communicate with parents as required and conduct all interaction with parents and other members in accordance with the Charterhouse Club Customer Care Policy;
- Attend programmed staff training sessions and staff meetings as required by the Crèche Manager;
- To actively sell the benefits of regular exercise and health promotion to the lifestyles of all members and prospective members;
- To actively promote the name of Charterhouse Club and Charterhouse School in all transactions with members and guests;
- Any other duties as may be reasonably required by the Crèche Manager
WORKING HOURS
Working hours for this role are 22.5 hours per week, Monday Friday 08:30 until 13:00 with occasional Saturday morning cover as and when required.
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED
Relevant Experience/Knowledge & Technical Competencies
ESSENTIAL
- Experience of working with children
DESIRABLE
- Knowledge of child development
Qualifications
ESSENTIAL
- NVQ Level 3 in Childcare (or equivalent)
DESIRABLE
- PaediatricFirst Aid
Personal Competencies / Skills
ESSENTIAL
- Excellent verbal communication skills, particularly in relation to building trust and rapport with children and their parents
- Passionate about creating great experiences for children
- Flexible approach to work
- Ability to work as part of a team
- Patience, sensitivity , an energetic disposition and enjoy the company of children
- Ability to work under own initiative
