1. Welcome – JoAnn Navarro

The following people new to the roundtable were introduced:

· Chris Chase (Engineering & Science Building)

2. Dining Project & Alternate Food Service Accommodations – Peter Napolitano

An update on campus food service renovations and alternative dining plans was provided:

· Susquehanna Room and Food Court will remain open until sometime in June / July 2012.

· The John Arthur Café will open August 27, 2012, with a “New York-style deli Concept” with a selection of sandwiches, soups and desserts.

· The new Chenango Room and Einstein Bros. Bagels will open on August 27, 2012. Both facilities will have extended evening hours.

· The University Union’s Lobby food kiosk will open August 20, 2012.

· The C4 Dining Center will serve EOP, Upward Bound and athletics camps beginning July 2, 2012.

· In the fall resident dining halls will accommodate faculty and staff using a commuter plan or BUC$ card at rates comparable to what were charged in the Susquehanna Room.

· Hinman Café will open at 11 AM and CIW Woods Diner will open at 5 PM beginning in the fall.

· CIW Dining Hall will remain open during the summer and faculty and staff using a commuter plan or BUC$ card at rates comparable to what were charged in the Susquehanna Room.

· The University and Sodexo have some additional contingency plans for more satellite food service on campus and will monitor the situation closely and make adjustments as necessary.

3. MWBE’s / Minority & Women Business Enterprises – John Cordi

The MWBE program is part of SUNY Board of Trustee and Governor Cuomo’s Plan which is designed to assist the growth and development of businesses owned and controlled by women and minorities. The University target goal is 20% for 2011/2012. Bill Panko has been designated as the Director of Specialty Procurement and will be working with purchasers on campus and with contractors in the community. All campus purchasers are encouraged to purchase from minority and/or women owned businesses when feasible. The Business Office is creating a website with vendor lists that will be shared with the campus shortly. In the meantime, staff is encouraged to purchase Staples supplies through the Proftech Website: http://www2.binghamton.edu/purchasing/images/StaplesProftechFlyer.pdf

4. Automated External Defibrillators and Two-way Radios – Dave Hubeny

The list of all locations of Automated External Defibrillators (AED’s) is on the Building Administrator’s website: http://www.binghamton.edu/building-administrators/index.html. In high rise buildings, an AED is located on every other floor (generally the odd numbered floors). Signs have been installed on every external door indicating the nearest unit. Building Administrators are asked to periodically perform a visual inspection of the unit and look for a green indicator (not a light) in the upper right hand corner of the unit. Also check that the pads are within their expiration date. Please call 911 when an AED is removed from the cabinet. Encourage your building occupants to receive CPR / AED training. Since AED’s were installed, three lives have been saved.

All building administrators should have a two-way radio. To request a radio, contact Dave Hubeny at or at 7-2049. Your radio may be used to speak with the University’s 911 dispatcher not first responders in the field. If you suspect there is an emergency condition, turn on your unit and listen for information / instructions. Radios should be charged only when necessary; leaving the radio in the charger all of the time will cause damage to the battery. 6. University Center for Training & Development Services – Carol Bell

The University Center for Training and Development exists to provide support and facilitate learning, growth and development of the faculty and staff. The staff has consulting hours on Tuesday and Thursday mornings in LNG-112 and no appointment is necessary. UCTD offers specialized training, facilitation, and will work with your department to bring in trainers, lectures, or subject matter experts from outside the University. The UCTD staff will also work with you to develop specialized workshops, individual training, on-site training and can partner with other departments or individuals to provide training and professional development. 7. Building Access Committee Update – Dave Martin

A draft Building Access Policy was initially developed in 2004-2005 and never fully implemented or approved. In March 2011 the Building Administrators reviewed a revised policy and provided feedback. Based upon that feedback, a committee was developed which decided to investigate a software solution that would reduce paper records and provide better control and more efficient key request and issuance process primarily for building administrators. Discussions will be ongoing with various stakeholders to determine if another software solution is feasible. The Building Administrators will be kept updated on the process.

8. Open Form – Exchange of Questions, Ideas & Issues – All

Chris Chase shared a concern about the Physical Facilities website for the Lockshop. Karen Fennie has updated the webpage with contact information.

Pepe Levine inquired if there are plans for more classroom space. Sally Oaks and Jesenko Muftic shared information regarding a current project to convert three smaller classrooms into two larger ones in the Lecture Hall. Also, in the next capital plan there is a project to create eighteen additional classrooms in the Student Wing.
