Editing and Production Internship

Internship description:
Observe, learn, and participate as you follow the publishing process of a book—from first edits to final proofreading to sending a completed book to press. In the process, you’ll assist with “cold” proofreading, copy-to-copy proofreading, occasional fact checking and sources verification, pre-press checks, and blueline checks. You may also write advertising copy (“blurbs”) for the covers of upcoming books.

Requirements/qualifications:
This internship is designed for undergraduate or graduate English majors preferably in at least junior or senior level of coursework with editing minor or other related minor and/or previous editing experience. Must have exceptional proofreading and communication skills and pass an in-house editing test with a score of 80% or higher.
Salary/hours: Paid internship ($7.25/hr)
24 hrs/wk; 15-week duration
