Dear parents,
“Education in the true sense is helping the individual to be mature and free……..to flower, to bloom, to blossom……in love and goodness to become fully ‘human’.
Here in ABHSS we allow to develop the individual personalities and potentialities as well as mental and intellectual capacities in an educational climate of freedom and respect. Such a climate is the requisite condition for effective learning.
With great pleasure and privilege we would like to inform you that our school is celebrating its GOLDEN JUBILEE this year. 50 successful years have been passed since its inception in 1963 with the valuable guidelines and resourceful support of the Management, service of efficient and laborious team of teachers leading by proven personalities and co-operation of the public and parents. Today our school has scaled many new heights in all respects. During this Jubilee year we have special celebrations throughout the year including Grandparents Day, Adityans Day, Alumni Meet etc: We rejoice in all our achievements and are grateful to each and every person who directly or indirectly contributed their time, talent and care for the growth of this institution.
ACADEMICS
The aims of education are to foster the individuals inner freedom and development towards self initiated action and acceptance of responsibility for one’s own actions, decision making, effective co-operation with others, self motivation and a desire to work for one’s own purposes.
Our results speak that we in ABHSS provide necessary environmental conditions for the students in a so-called progressive educational setting. Our students brought laurels to the school by scoring 100% result in XII Com, X English & Hindi medium. In Class X (Eng Med) Palak Zala topped with 90.4 % and Ranjani Ray with 87.09 topped in Class X (H.M). In General stream, Payal Adhia is the topper as well as the Centre First with 82.7%. In Science stream we have two toppers with 88.2%. They are Ankita Rijwani and Juhi Chandrani.

MOMENT OF PRIDE
Three of our toppers from XII Sc, Ankita Rijwani(99.51percentile), Juhi Chandrani (percentile 98.83) and Shailvi Deasai (percentile 97.11) were rewarded from the Chief Ministers Education Fund with 5000 Rs each for their outstanding achievement in the Board Exams.
Under the Inspire Scheme by Gujarat Sec and Higher Sec Education Board these three students were eligible for a scholarship of Rs 80,000 each for their higher studies.
ADMISSION TO PROFESSIONAL COURSES
The passed out batch of XII Sc has made the School Management, Principal, Vice Principal and Staff proud by securing admissions in various professional colleges on merit basis. Out of forty two students appeared for the Board Exams, thirty two students secured admission in Engineering. Three more students got admission in professional colleges for MBBS, BDS and BAMS respectively.
HOME EXAMS
First Unit Test for Class XI Com and XII Com were conducted in the month of July. In all the other classes Students’ assessment is going on as per the instruction of the Gujarat State Education Board.
OUTBOUND TRAINING SETS SAIL
Going beyond the walls of school, teachers were trained in a fresh new ambiance.
Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Board organized Karmayogi Training for the teachers teaching various subjects in Board classes.
From Higher Secondary Section Mr. Katak Palata andMrs. Rekha Prakash attended the training for Mathematics and Chemistry respectively from 7th June to 9th June 2012 at Govt Girls High School Junagadh.
Mrs Rakhee Nahar and Mrs Neenu Chaturvedi attended the training for Physics and Biology at Govt Girls High School Junagadh from 11th June to 13th June 2012.
From Secondary Section Mrs Kiran Pamnani and Mrs Anju Ranjan attended the training for Maths and Science respectively at Shri Saraswati Vidya Mandir Supasi from 7th June to 9th June 2012.
Mrs Ganga Suresh, Mrs Prafulla Dave, Ms Dina Bhatt and Mrs Sajini Shajimon attended the training programme for English, Gujarati, Sanskrit and Social Science respectively at Vinoba Vidya Mandir Simar from 16th June to 18th June 2012.
From Hindi Medium Mrs Manjula Vaidya attended the training for Maths and Science. Mr Ranjit Mali and Ms Snehal Goswami attended the training for English, Social Science, Hindi and Gujarati at Vinoba Vidya mandir Simar.
THE SPIRIT OF LEARNING
Our Science teachers Mrs Rekha Prakash, Mrs Rakhee Nahar and Mrs Neenu Chaturvedi attended a workshop on the topic ‘Environment Awareness’ conducted by GEC ie Gujarat Ecological Commission in Junagadh on 31st August.
Mrs Ratna Rao from Oxford University Press conducted a full day session for the Primary and Pre-primary English Teachers on 8th Sep in the school premises. Teachers were enriched with effective classroom teaching through activities.
Mrs Jessy Saji and Mrs Neelam Vohra attended an ELT workshop conducted by Oxford University Press on the topic ‘Interactive Methods in Grammar’
Mr Satish Kumar, our Art teacher, attended a First Aid training programme on 24th and 25th September in the company auditorium at Aditya Nagar.
PARENT-TEACHER MEETING
A Parent-Teacher conference is a time where two important people in a student’s life ie the parent and the teacher can meet and discuss for the child’s betterment.
PTM for the board classes were conducted in the month of June. Parents were acknowledged the achievements and activities of our students through a Powerpoint Presentation. For all the other classes from std 1st to 9th and std XI Sc & XI Co also were organized in the month of July and August. Considerable number of parents attended all the meetings and discussed about the progress of their wards with the class teacher and subject teachers. Parents expressed their faith in teachers and the institution and appreciated the efforts put forth by the school for their wards excellence. Other notable suggestions cropped up from the meeting are in active consideration and maximum efforts are being taken to fulfill the Parents expectations.
INVESTITURE CEREMONY
In the school, students get trained to become responsible leaders of tomorrow by giving them certain responsibilities so that they can nurture and nourish their leadership qualities. School parliament was sworn in on 5th July 2012. The following students were selected to various posts.

AWARENESS PROGRAMMES
Spreading good health.
Good health plays a vital role behindanybody’s success. Keeping oneself healthy and hygienic is very essential and these life skills can be taught effectively in schooldays. Our school has organized various awareness programmes to re-enforce or establish good healthy habits in students.
- To create awareness about Nutrition and Good Health ‘Salad Preparation’ was conducted in class rooms under the supervision of class teachers on 20th July
- Dr.Raju Krishnani,Medical Officer,JST,IRIL gave an informative talk in the morning assembly on the topic Health, Nutrition and Hygiene
- A slide show on the topic ‘Healthand Nutrition’ was shown to the students of class VI to IX on19th and 20th July.
- Biology students of 11th and 12th standard visited the Civil Hospital and received practical knowledge on how to control different deficiency diseases and contagious diseases on 23rd July.
- Dr Laxmi Satwani delivered an informative talk to the girls from Class VII to X. The aim of the programme was to create awareness among girls about physical hygiene.
- Packet foods were totally banned in the school premises and children are encouraged to bring home made food items.
Strong efforts for safety
Safety for students has always been of utmost priority in our school.
- A ‘Risk Assessment Team’ consists of Teachers, Vice-Principal and Principalis actively working to ensure the school safety and security
- Vinod Gas Agency had organized a workshop for the girls from Std 9th to 12thon how to handle gas stove and cylinder safely at home.
- An expert talk on “Safety measures that we have to adopt at home, school andon road” by Mr.Sanil Xavier, Security Officer IRIL ,was conducted in the morning assembly.
- To create awareness on Snake Bite and its First aid, a Power Point Presentation was shown to the students from class VI to IX.
Career counseling
Dr S.M.Zofair, Professor and Head of the Department of Harvest & Post Harvest Technology, Fisheries College Veraval had given some adequate informations about the career options in Science stream on 10th September 2012. Students of class XI and XII Science were benefitted from this programme.
Reaching out to make a difference
- ‘Cleanliness is next to Godliness.’ Our students well understood this maxim.
In an attempt to generate awareness on environment conservation, students of Class IX and XI participated in the Beach Cleanup Day, organized by Coast Guard Department Veraval. By holding the event the students wanted to convey that Environment protection is a collective effort and the city needs to be made more green and environment friendly to ensure its sustainable growth.
- A‘Paper Bag Competition’ was conducted fromclass VI to XII to create awareness among students about the hazards of plastic. Students had written some eye catchy slogans on the bagswhich were very well conveyed the purpose of this activity.
- A rally was organised by our Scouts & Guides children on 25th August and paper bags were distributed to the shopkeepers in Veraval . To create awareness among the public, students performed some street plays through which they conveyed a strong message that the use of plastic must be minimized.
Enhancement of Communication Skill
In today’s competitive world the importance of English cannot be neglected. Command over English language is almost a pre requisite for success. To improve the language skills various steps has been adopted by our school.
- Language Prefects were appointed in each class to monitor the English speaking among students
- Good English speaking students were identified by the language prefects
and were appreciated by giving badges in the morning assembly by the Principal.
- English Language week was celebrated with various programmes like Display board competition, English speeches, Poem recitation etc during the morning assembly from 16th July to 21st July.
- Good morning talk by teachers is introduced in the morning assembly to enhance the listening and understanding skills among the students.
Together we are for a noble cause
The service to mankind is the service to God. The idea that God loves those who love their fellow men is rightly brought out by the Adityans through the charity work they had taken up in Veraval and the surrounding areas. Our students helped the needy people in all the possible ways.
- As a part of social service programme 40 students from XII Sc along with three teachers visited an OLD AGE HOME in Veraval. They donated a first aid box, clothes, sandals, fruits, snacks and theprovision for one month to them. Students had experienced the agony of the destituted parents and had taken the pledge that they never leave their parents in such helpless condition.
- XII Com students and two teachers visited an ORPHANAGE in Junagadh. Students generously contributed books, sports equipments, a clock and sweets to them and spent a whole day with them and entertained them with music and fun.
- Class XI Sc visited the ‘PARTH SCHOL FOR SPECIAL NEEDS’ in Veraval and donated a water tank, clothes and provision to them and proved that humanity still exists in this world.
- XI Com students paid a visit to a GIRLS BLIND SCHOOL in Junagadh. Children contributed provision worth Rs 3550 and showed their concern towards them.
Charity begins at home
Keeping this maxim in mind Parth Schoolfor Special Needs, Veraval had been given a chance to exhibit the materials prepared by the disabled children such as phenyl, detergent, doormats, necklace sets etc in the school. Things worth Rs 4000 were purchased by the teachers and students to lend a hand to them.
SCIENCE EXHIBITION
Gujarat State Education Dept had organized Inter school Science Exhibition. From the Taluka Level, both the projects from Secondary and Higher Secondary section got selected for the District Level competition which was held at Manavatar, Junagadh on 24th, 25th and 26th September. From Higher Secondary Section the project on ‘Piezo Electric Roads’was presented by Dhruv Oza and Pratik Sawarn from XI Sc. The project on ‘Clean and Safe Society’ was presented by Mohit Adhia and Bhavit Trivedi from Secondary Section.
THE TIRANGA UNFURLED
Patriotic spirit marked the Independence Day Celebrations. Principal B.Mohandoss hoisted the National Flag. Speeches in English,Hindi and Gujarati were delivered by Naisargi Parmar,Shantanu Bhattacharya and Nisha Sonaria respectively.
Three scholarships worth Rs 3000 each, sponsored by our alumni, Ms Akshita Agarwal were declared and the students were felicitated with cash prizes. The winners of the scholarships were Amit Yadav XII Sc, Mohuva Mallick X std and Gopal Yadav IV std. XII Sc toppers Juhi Chandrani, Ankita Tanna and Shailvi Desai were also honoured with momentos for their outstanding performance in the Board Exams.
The occasion was marked with a PRABHAT PHERI by our students from school to the Collector’s office and they received a Trophy.
TEACHERS DAY CELEBRATIONS
The Day marked with the tribute to Dr. S. Radhakrishnan and felicitation of teachers in the morning assembly. Students have staged various cultural programmes. Student-teachers of Class XII took the responsibility of teaching and managed the classes.
In a special meeting with the teachers,Sri Siddharth Ghosh, Vice-President HR, ABNL and Dr Jawahar Thakkar, honourable member of the schoolcommittee addressed the teachers and shared their views. The School Management felicitated Mrs Molly Kurien,one of our senior most teacher for her long term service in the school. All the staff members were honoured with gifts as a token of appreciation followed by a sumptuous lunch.
GRANDPARENTS WERE HONOURED
As a part of Golden Jubilee year celebrations our school had organized ‘Grandparents Day’ on 29th September 2012 in the school premises. Grandparents of the tiny tots and the primary children were invited for the same. After a warm welcome with flowers and greeting cards, the function started with a prayer followed by special performances done by the kids. The function moved ahead with ‘Fun Games’ where the kids and the Grandparents together had taken part. All the games brought tremendous joy and enthusiasm. Every Grandparent eagerly took part in the games, keeping aside their health problems. The winners of each game were given a small gift as a token of appreciation. At the end Grandparents were called upon to speak a few words. Many of them expressed their gratitude to the school for giving such a wonderful opportunity to bond with their grandchildren.
GANDHI JAYANTI CELEBRATIONS
Gandhi Jayanti was celebrated on 2ndOctober with bhajans, speeches and shramdan. Staff and students paid homage to Gandhiji by garlanding his photograph. The occasion was marked by Sarva dharma prayer, bhajans and speeches on Gandhian values. Principal Shri Mohandoss addressed the students and delivered a short speech on the ‘Relevance of Gandhian values today’. The celebrations concluded with ‘Shramdan’
Taking New Steps
Student’s potential should be identified and nurtured in their school days. Special classes for special talents have been commenced in the school for Computer, Drawing, Music and Athletics. In Computer 52 students are enrolled for the vocational courses that is ‘Advanced MS office’ and‘Web Designing and Animation’. In Drawing, Athletics and Music total 67 students are enrolled for the evening classes and getting trained from the teachers.

Co-curricular activities play a vital role in student’s education. For the all round development of the students, various inter-house activities are held.
