Fuels Reduction Project Manager Job Description
10hrs/week year round (flexible depending upon workload and funding), full time seasonally if applicant also serves as a Fuels Reduction Crew Boss
Reports to: SRRC Restoration Director
Pay Rate: $16-20/hr depending on experience
Location: Sawyers Bar, California(applicant should be willing to reside within commuting distance – Salmon River, Scott Valley, Mid Klamath)
General Duties:
- Interface with WatershedCenter. Attend staff meetings, be aware of general SRRC requirements, policies, and reporting and administrative details.
- Coordinate with project partners, resource managers and regulators.
- Assist in organizing community education activities, workshops, workdays, field-trips and training for project.
- Be familiar with your project’s grant agreements, and take responsibility for completing your grant tasks.
- Assist in grant development for project funding.
- Meet grant reporting required in each grant agreement.
Specific Project Duties
- Manage implementation of fuels reduction and prescribed fire activities
- Conduct all field layout, photo monitoring and GPS mapping of fuels reduction and prescribed fire activities
- Contact and coordinate with landowners to develop fuels reduction and prescribed fire activities.
- Oversee and maintain staffing for fuels reduction crews.
- See that necessaryfuels reduction equipment and supplies arepurchased and maintained
- Work with SRFire Safe Council on project prioritization and planning
- Work with SRFire Safe Council on Fire Liaison Team
Optional Additional Duties
- Fuels Reduction Crew Boss – running an SRRC fuels crew seasonally (November-May)
Qualifications and Skills:
- 4 years of relevant experience and knowledge of fuels reduction and prescribed fire
- Technologically literate, with strong computer skills including familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel, Adobe and other commonly used software.
- Good organizational skills and record keeping.
- Good people skills and personnel management, along with good oral and written communication skills.
- Self-starter who can work independently.
- Ability to give and follow directions.
