Job Title:Crime PreventionCoordinator

Job Purpose: - To support and assist the Crime Prevention Officerin his duties. Provide Crime Prevention advice to all University Stakeholders at an appropriate level, carry out surveys, investigations asdetailed by the Crime Prevention Coordinator. Target hardening and high profile visits.The post holder will assist in the delivery of pre prepared personal safety and situational awareness talks to both staff and students across all Faculties and Departmentswithin the University, and provide security advice on crime prevention related matters
Responsible to: - Security Mail and Transport Manager
- Key Responsibilities:-
- To support the Crime Prevention Coordinatorby providing crime prevention advice and guidance to staff, students and visitors
- Follow up and carry out investigations of initial incident and case reports raised by 24/7 staff
- Review daily operational incidents and prioritise which incidents need additional investigation for follow up
- Carry out duties in response to identified target hardening, including covert surveillance, post event analysis of data available for investigatione.g. CCTV, Access control and other securitysystems.
- In an operational context in the absence of the Crime Prevention Coordinator, supervision of Security and Safety Teams at all high profile and major events.
- Staff Security and Safety stands at University Open Days and Applicant Visit days delivering prepared information to prospective students and parents.
- Assist in the delivery ofpre-prepared personal safety and situational awareness talks to both staff and students across all Faculties within the University.
- Carry out duties as instructed by the Crime Prevention Coordinatorand implement crime prevention measures in order to proactively reduce the risk of burglary, robbery, assault or other criminal act to enhance the student experience.
- Work closely with the Northumbria PoliceNeighbourhood beat manager and any other externalagencies as detailed by the Crime Prevention Officer.
- Provide follow up victim support and crime prevention advice to those staff and students who have become the victims of crime.
- Support Operational 24/7 Security staff in their daily tasks as and when detailed by the Crime Prevention Coordinator.
- Supervise the daily duties of the Duty Security Team in the absence of a Security Team Leader or Security Supervisor.
- Assist in the preparation of, and carry out, briefings for operational staff in the absence of a Security Team Leader
- In the absence of the Mail & Transport Coordinator Supervise the daily duties of the Mail and Transport Team.
- Plain clothes Crime Prevention, Patrols and Emergency Response
- Identifying, assessing and responding to crime prevention issues including buildings and property
- Use Information Technology and various computing packages.
- Carry out detailed investigations as and when required.
- Provide reports and statements, including the giving of evidence in court, or at any University hearing as may be required in connection with the performance of their duties.
- Assist in the establishment of a code of good quality care and professional practice and procedures that acknowledges the requirement of the client.
- To be a member of and take the lead of the University Fire Response Team (FRT) and the co-ordination of emergency services and the response to emergency situations. Carry out all duties associated with this task
- Carry out First Aid duties including the use of epipens and defibrillators.

Any other duties within the scope of the grade as required by the Department / Line Manager.

7.Location:-
Based at the City Campus but will be expected to attend all University Sties including Coach Lane Campus, Bullock steads and the London Campus andany other properties or partners sites as required by the University.
8.Attendance Requirements:
Full time, 40 hours per week. Working an annualised hours pattern including occasional weekends, bank holidays, institutional closure days and occasional nightshift. The post holder will be required to work a flexible non fixed shift pattern and be expected to change shifts at short notice in response to the needs of the university and requirements of the service
