CALL TO ORDER: The January 11, 2016, Regular Meeting of the Nevis City Council was called to order at 6:00 P.M. by Mayor Chris Norton.
Present: Mayor Chris Norton; Council Members: Rich Johnson, Heidi Raduenz and Bill Rice, Molly Senger.
Absent: None
M/S/P, Raduenz, Senger, to approve the Regular Agenda for the December 11, 2016 City Council meeting with the addition: Liquor – B. Poole wages.
Motion by Johnson to approve the Consent Agenda, declined for lack of a second.
M/S/P, Raduenz, Senger, to table the Consent Agenda item number V.
M/S/P, Raduenz, Senger, to approve the Consent Agenda with the removal of item #V.
I. Approval of the minutes of the meeting on December 14, 2015
II. Approval of the December 2015 bills for payment.
III. Approval of the December 2015 financial report.
IV. Approval of the December 2015 Liquor Report.
V. Approve Resolution No. 2016-01 A Resolution of Annual Appointments and Designations for 2016.
PLANNING COMMISSION – No Report
SANITATION DEPARTMENT – No Report
WATER DEPARTMENT –
M/S/P, Raduenz, Johnson, to approve allowing city residents to continue running their water during the winter months with no additional charge to prevent water freeze ups.
STREETS – No Report
LIQUOR STORE –
M/S/P, Raduenz, Senger, allow Janie Creger, Liquor Store Manager, to advertise for sealed bids for the two old bars and cooler located in the liquor store basement.
M/S/P, Raduenz, Senger, to approve requesting bids to replace the rear door of the liquor store.
M/S/P, Raduenz, Johnson, to approve discontinuing Beth Poole’s interim manager hourly wage of $13.00 per hour and return to her original wage of $9.00 per hour effective beginning January 11, 2016.
FIRE DEPARTMENT – No report.
CEMETERY – No report
PARKS DEPARTMENT –
Senger reported she had received a check in the amount of $1,500.00 from the Nevis Lion’s Club which was to be designated for Halvorson Park. The council had never made the determination as to which park would be designated for the parks improvement project. The City Administrator did not receive this check and a council member directed the recipient, council member, to return the check to the Lions Club. No council action taken.
POLICE DEPARTMENT – Deputy Josh Oswald gave his police report for the month of January.
M/S/P, Raduenz, Johnson, to approve the violation notice to be placed on vehicles in violation of Nevis City Ordinance No. 18, Section 1, which states: “On any day when snow accumulation is 2 inches or more, no vehicle shall be left standing or parked on all city streets between the hours of two o’clock A.M. and eight o’clock A.M. Please move your vehicle or it may be towed at owner’s expense.”
ADMINISTRATION -
M/S/P, Senger, Raduenz, to approve the resignation of Terry Greenawalt, Deputy Clerk, effective February 18, 2016.
M/S/P, Senger, Raduenz, to approve advertising for the Deputy Clerk position.
M/S/P, Raduenz, Senger, to adjourn the meeting.
