Welcome to the 67th South Westland A & P Show. As an icon of South Westland, the organisers continue to work hard to keep the show relevant, interesting and exciting. The 2018 show introduces a miniature horse section, live music and an extended grand parade which will ensure a full day of entertainment.

Our theme this year is “Mary Poppins” which we know will provide a “super-califragilistic-expialidocious” day for everyone!
As usual we have some great cash prizes, for both adults and children, for the best exhibit in Wearable Arts or Mary Poppins theme inthe Home Industries sections,with “just a spoon full of sugar”.

Horse and Pony Section
Rules
- Entries close 16th February 2018, all late entries will incur a penalty of 50%.
- No phone entries accepted.
- Any competitor who has not paid their entries in full before the show will not be eligible to receive any prize money/ribbons/sponsored prizes until the arrears are paid. It may also affect their ability to compete at other RAS events.
- Unless otherwise stated, entry fee if $4.00 per class and prize money is 1st$5.00, 2nd$3.00, 3rd$2.00. The committee reserves the right to alter, combine classes, and/or reduce prize money if there are not sufficient entries in a class.
- Competitors must enter the ring as soon as their class/number is called, wearing correct dress and back number/number holder. The steward reserves the right to refuse entry to the ring once judging has commenced.
- All competitors must wear an approved safety helmet that has an ESNZ red tag.
- All open ponies must be ridden by a boy/girl under 17 years on the 24th February 2017. All hacks must be ridden by a rider 12 years and over.
- If you would like a show catalogue please include an email address with your
entry, no copies will be available on the day.
- All competitors must carry a current height certificate.
- Grazing is available off-site and must be arranged prior.
- Measuring & Helmet tagging will be available on the day 7.00 am sharp at the tennis courts.
- Novice horse/pony not to have won 5 classes and any section at any A&P show before 24th February 2018. Snaffle bits only.
- Competitors can only enter one open class.
- Supreme Paced and Mannered to be judged in Hack ring at conclusion of ring classes.
- Showjumping is non-grading and run under NZEF rules. Enter a maximum of two heights, not including six bar.
- All competitors must abide by the health and safety management rules of the show.
- Please make sure the parking area is left clean and tidy – please take manure and hay away with you.

Type & Production Rules:
Based on 2016/2017 season’s production calculated on total solids. All production to be done on the West Coast. Test papers to accompany entry. All entries to be shown in their respective breed class or classes.
Production Levels:
2 Year Old - 250 kg’s of Solids
3 Year Old - 275 kg’s of Solids
4 Year Old & Over - 300 kg’s of Solids
Plus one point for every 25kg’s or part there of above the base rate, minus one point for every 25kg’s or part there of below the base rate.
Type Rules:
- Each Judge to place them for type
- 1st place 50 points, 2nd place 48 points and so on
- Points to be added to production points
- In the event of a tie, cow with the highest m/s wins
