My Name is Christi Williams and I have been building my Mary Kay business for 9 years and recentlybecame a Sales Director with Mary Kay Last month!
From August of 2001 to Julyof 2005 I worked my Mary Kay businesson a very part time basis in addition to my 60 hour a week full time job as the Human resource Manager for Six Flags. Although I only worked my business part time, I had a great love for the product and the company right off the bat and quickly became a red jacket and maintained that position for quite some time. InJuly of 2005 I became pregnant with my daughter and suffered many health challenges with my pregnancy. Due to those health challenges I became unable to work at Six Flags any longer. InAugust of 2006 I went back to work as the HR Manager for UPS. During thatphase of my life I went through many health challenges and life challenges that caused me to put myMary Kay business on the back burner for a little while(About 2 years!!)In January of 2009 I got laid off from UPS.Isn’t it a blessing that in Mary Kay youcan never get laid off!! In January of 2009 Unemployment was at an all time high and jobs were nowhere to be found. So I drew unemployment and began to try to pick my Mary Kay business up again to help supplement my income. I was quite lost at this point. In my 2 year break(which i DO NOT recommend) I lost all but one customer and one team member, DeAwna. And I believe the only reasonDeAwna stayed with me was cause she had one recruit named Cindy Sheppa who is aDIRECTOR!! So I felt like I was starting from scratch. I started going back to my weekly success meeting and sort of dipping my toes in...In April of 2009 I met the love of mylife Kevin and he quickly became a MAJOR distraction to my Mary Kay business.LOL. So by August of 2009 the newness had worn off and Kevin was like, " Baby, you either gotta do this Mary Kay thing you have been talking about, or you gotta find a job!" LOL. So I made the decision in August of 2009 that I would givemy Mary Kay business all I had from now until unemployment ran out and if I was not a director by then, I would go back to work! So at this point I was setting my goals and making my plans. And one night when I couldn’t sleep I was reading through some emails and I came across one from this lady in Mary Kay who had a goal of doing 100 faces in 100 days! I was immediately intrigued! She went on to say that in completing this challenge she had sold $14,000Retail, gained over 100 new customersearned a free car and went into DIQ! Oh I was pumped! I thought I would be happy if I could do evenHALF of that! And I got to thinking about all that would do for my business if I just tried to achieve it. Even if I missed the goal, I had so much to gain from just trying! I was so excited! And I was immediately on a mission!
Soon September 23, 2009 I began my 100 faces in 100 days with the goal of finishing December31st! I had just became a member of facebook and was starting to learn how to use it. I very quickly saw what a valuable tool it could be in helping me with mygoal.I started searching for people I went to high school with, people I worked with 15 years ago at Six Flags, I was going on to friends pages and adding friends that were mutual friends of ours. Every woman I had ever known was gonna be my facebook friend cause I was on a mission for 100 faces. I sent a personal message to every woman. " I need your Help! Ihave been challenged in my Mary Kay business to putMary Kay on 100 faces in 100 days and I need your help! I know we have not seen each other in years, and this would be an awesome way for us to reconnect. You are under no obligation what so ever to purchase anything. However if you fall in love with the product I cannot be held responsible.LOL. This appt will only take one hour and I can come to your house or you can come to mine. Is there any reason why you couldn’t help me out with this huge goal? It would mean SO much to me!"I would book them for a facial andget a date and time before turning them into a party!
Yall I was passionate about this goal! I knew that everything I wanted in my business would come if I did these 100 faces. I would come home after every facial or party and I would update my status in facebook, 30 down, 70 to go!People who didn’t know what the numbers meant would ask and that would open the door for me to book for a facial. If a day went by and I didn’t post people wouldbe asking, what number are you at Christi? I was passionate about my goal, which in return got others passionate about my goal. I also would come home after ever party and use my profile cards to search and add each lady to my facebook and thank them for being one of my 100 faces. You know a look book only gets in front of your customer once a quarter but you are in front of them everyday if they have a facebook. Everyday they log in they see you and they know yourworking your business and they see new products you’re advertising and sales your running. When you are in front of them everydaythey will feel connected to you and know that you are their personal consultant. They will not forget whoYOU are when the next Mary Kay lady comes around. Istrongly believe that facebook was a very important networking took in my 100 faces challenge!
I also want to share that if you are asking for their help with YOUR goal, you better be willing to do the work! I drove to Frisco (2 hours in 5pm traffic) for one face! I posted to facebook I was doing a facial in Frisco and another girl said I didn’t think you would drive that far or I would have booked. So guess what? I drove back to Frisco the next day for 1 FACE! Each of those faces purchases $150 each and have continued to be very loyal customers who I ship to every month. And to think I thought about saying no because Frisco was too far. But when you are WILLING to do the “ and then some” God will bless you with the “and then some” in your business. I had a girl in Houston(5 hours away)book a party with me to help with my100 faces. Turned out she had some cancellations and was only going to have two girls there. I drove toHouston anyway because I was passionate about my goal! Turns out that party of 3 was $300 and the hostess from Houston laterended up being my last recruit I needed to go into DIQ!
Y’all I am not saying this challenge will be all a bed of roses, but I promise you that if you will get PASSIONATE about your goal and you give it everything you have for the next 100 days you will be rewarded in such an awesome way that you can not even begin to imagine! Another thing that kept me passionate when I was having doubts was knowing my “WHY”! Knowing my WHY gave me that PASSION I needed to get through the hard days! My WHY was to stay at home with my daughter, to show Kevin that I could do this Mary Kay. I didn’t want to have to ever work in corporate America again! My WHY was SO STRONG that My Motto all through DIQ was FAILURE IS NOT AN OPTION!
I did finish my 100 faces and in that 100 days, I sold over $7,500, gained over 200 new customers and 5 new team members and I raised my per face average from $50 per face to almost $200 per face! I became a master booker and a master recruiter!
And to think back when I read that email from that lady and said...If I could do half what she did I would be happy. What you think about you bring about. I did exactly half what she did... I encourage you to think BIG! Say, if she did $14,000 I can do $20,000!
I finished my 100 faces in January of 2010, I went into Car qualification in February and Director Qualification in March. Unemployment ran out in June and I debuted just in timeas a sales Director in July of 2010 and got to walk across stage at Seminar this year as a brand new Sales Director! It took me exactly 9 months once I committed myself 100% to get from 1 customer and 1 team member to over 150 customers and 25 team members and to become a Sales Director. All my dreams are coming true! In these past 4 months I have had women tell me that I have made them feel beautiful again, that I have changed their life, that I have saved their life, that I have brought them closer to God,that I have given them the freedom to raise their babies, that I have inspired them and motivated them. And as we all know I personally did not do these things, I just offered them this awesome Mary Kayopportunity that allowed them to Dream! And when you can give a Woman the Opportunity to Dream again it is the most amazing feeling in theentire world!
I challenge each and every one of you to go out and do 100 faces in 100 days! It will CHANGE YOUR LIFE!!!
Please add me to facebook so I can watch your journey and be cheering you on to the finish line! Christi Schlotter Williams(Facebook)
