Summary and Main Purpose:
To support young parents in developing their parenting skills. The Tutor will demonstrate an extensive range of knowledge, understanding and application of curriculum delivery, curriculum innovation or curriculum delivery strategies. Other duties of this person will be to provide all-round support to the young parents in developing their knowledge and skills and helping them to access appropriate training and employment opportunities, in accordance with funder’s requirements.Key Accountabilities:
Teaching/Managing a Positive Learner Journey- Plan teaching and learning to improve outcomes for all young parents and their children, manage implementation ensuring learning is delivered in line with curriculum and programme requirements
- Lead by example to ensure the young parents and their children’s journey is positive, including front line delivery as Required
- Ensure professionalism to include daily checks on the parent/child environment, session preparation, ensuring young parents are effectively engaged in learning
- Ensure that links are developed and maintained with careers advisors, new and existing partnerships
- Management of continuous professional development
- Set targets for young parents participation, retention, achievement and progression
- Monitor young parents performance according to agreed standards and targets and take necessary action to support and resolve according to performance levels
- Day to day monitoring and evaluation compliance including all documentation relating to the programmes, ensuring the quality content, accuracy, validity and timely completion of young parents start/leaver documents, Individual learning plans and progress reviews, attendance records, health and safety documentation are all relevant and up to date
- Curriculum development working closely with the Lead Tutor
- Develop and promote e-learning, use of ICT to the benefit of the young parents
- To be fully up to date on SQA qualifications system and be able to support all young parents
- Communicate centre, divisional and national priorities and performance to young parents on a regular basis to ensure clarity and consistency of direction
- Promote, implement and deliver our Equality & Diversity strategy
- Promote and implement safe working practices in line with our Health and Safety policy and operational manual
- Ensure compliance with contractual, legal, regulatory, ethical and social requirements
- Inspire, encourage, empower and promote innovation and share best practice with team and young parents
- Provide effective leadership, recruit, select, induct and maintain young parents
- Time manage self and able to balance conflicting demands and tight deadlines
- Work with Lead Tutor and Youth Programme Manager to put in place a CPD plan. Take ownership of the CPD plan and ensure that it is implemented and regularly reviewed
- Develop personal network and ensure that key members of this network are aware of the benefits of networking with Rathbone.
This role will involve training, supervising, working with and/or being in sole charge of children and young parents. The successful applicant will therefore be required to apply for a disclosure. A disclosure is an impartial and confidential document that details an individual’s criminal record and where appropriate gives details of those who are banned from working with children.

Key Requirements:
Essential / DesirableQualifications:
NC/HNC SVQ Level 3 in Childcare and Education or other relevant childcare qualifications /
Experience:
Strong organisational skills, the ability to prioritise workload /
Ability to balance conflicting demands and tight deadlines /
An ability to contribute to the development and delivery of curriculum strategies to meet the learning needs of young parents and their children /
Skills / Knowledge:
Knowledge of training processes /
Up to date expertise in a relevant vocational field /
