TOPIC: EVHS Cheer Tryouts
If you are interested in trying out for EVHS cheerleader for the 2014 – 2015 school year please pick up an application from the diamond. There will be a mandatory meeting, which you and a parent must attend at EVHS in the Lecture Hall, 6:30pm, March 5th.
TOPIC: Seniors
Financial Aid is hosting a FAFSA workshop at the Round Rock campus to assist students with completing their 2014-2015 FAFSA. If you have any families that need assistance with linking their tax information this would be a good opportunity for them to get help. Please have them bring their paper copy of the tax return and w2's. The event will be on Thursday March 6th from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. in Bldg. 2000 - Learning Lab 2330.15
TOPIC: Band
The East View High School Winter Percussion Ensembles competed at the TCGC Bowie contest on Saturday. The “A” group had the highest score in Open class but due to a timing penalty finished second. The “B” group finished second in A class. The ensembles will compete again at TCGC Hendrickson on March 22. Please congratulate these hard-working percussion students on their success!
TOPIC: EVHS Students
Stanford University is offering summer institutes for students ages 14-17. Students would engage in 3-4 week intensive study in courses ranging from biotechnology to entrepreneurship and creative writing. Students ages 16-19 will choose from more than 125 college courses in 30 academic departments, earning undergraduate course credit and an official Stanford University transcript. TOPIC: EVHS Softball
The East View Patriot Softball team started off district in excellent fashion last night defeating the Pflugerville Connally Cougars 13-0 in a 5-Inning Run Rule Victory. The Patriots were led by Kayleigh Williams in the circle who pitched four innings, and did not allow a base runner. Bailey Garrett did a great job as she came in to finish off the 5th inning. Every Patriot who came to the plate reached base safely at least one time. The Patriots are now 1-0 in District, and 20-0 on the season. The next game for the Patriots will be Friday Night at 6:00PM at Bastrop High School. Thanks again to the 10th Man! You all truly make a difference! (We are also gaining a small group of Sun City Followers, and look forward to that group growing as the year progresses!)
TOPIC: EVHS Patriot Basketball
Last night we held our District 17-4A Boys Basketball All-District meeting. The EVHS program was well represented with multiple players earning all-district honors. They are: 1st Team Garrett Lang 2nd Team Cal Holland and Benji Adams

TOPIC: Seniors
Congratulations Angela Brown, Arden Baxter, Kenneth Williams, and Joseph Babin… You have completed the requirements for your senior service cord. Remember seniors, Friday is the LAST DAY to submit your hours to Mrs. Scholtz or Mrs. Ray in the English hall. Hours submitted after spring break will NOT be recognized for the senior service award. Get those hours done and submitted! The updated list is posted in the English hallway. All other seniors, all 50 hours must be submitted to Mrs. Scholtz or Mrs. Ray by no later than Friday. Any hours submitted after Friday will not be counted towards the senior service award

TOPIC: Project Second Chance
Students who are completing credits in project second chance, March 6 will be the LAST day to recover credit! Make sure that you are going to rooms 501, 504, or 506 after school to earn your credit.
TOPIC: Juniors
Did you know that for academically outstanding low-income students, attending a selective college can actually be cheaper than attending a local university or community college? The College Prep Scholarship helps students become successful applicants to the nation’s most selective colleges. Last year 3,000 Scholars were selected to receive awards which include full scholarships to college summer programs at schools like Harvard, Stanford, and Notre Dame and more. The College Prep Scholarship is now available online for all juniors. Please go to www.questbridge.org to apply. Flyers are available in the Counselors Office. Deadline - March 26th.
TOPIC: Scholarships – Awards
ATTENTION ALL SENIORS- stop by the counselor’s office to check on new scholarship opportunities. It is very important that you be mindful of all scholarship deadlines. Please don’t miss out on these great scholarship opportunities!
· The Morrow Family Scholarship: Senior students from the inaugural graduating class at East View High School are invited to apply for a one-time $500 scholarship given in honor of Randy Morrow, a steward of community service. Applicants must be planning to pursue a four-year degree with an emphasis in Parks and Recreation or related major/minor. Applicants must complete the Shared Scholarship Application and required essay. Applications must be complete and submitted in a timely fashion to the counseling office. . Deadline is March 28th.
· Any seniors planning to major in telecommunications such as math, business, education, technology, engineering and computer science may be eligible for a $1500 a year scholarship from the Texas Telephone Association Foundation. See Mrs. Lewis for details and application. Must be postmarked by March 28th.
· The Williamson County A&M Club: is offering two scholarships. The applicant’s home address must be in Williamson County. The Foundation scholarship application and additional information can be picked up in the counseling office. The application must be received by April 1st.
