Disease Poster
TASK: Students will research a bacterial, viral, or protozoan infection and create a
“Wanted Poster” displaying information about their disease.
CRITERIA:
Description:
· Your poster should be colorful and CREATIVE
· Your poster should be organized and free from errors!
Specific Requirements (what you should include!):
1. Name of Disease
2. Name of pathogen causing disease
3. Type of organism: Bacteria, Virus, or Protists
4. “Picture” of your pathogen (microscopic picture or a diagram)
5. “Picture” of the Symptoms (what does it look like when a person has it)
The following requirements must be answered with at least one paragraph.
6. Organism’s mode of operation (how can a person catch it, how it attacks and spreads, what are the vectors?)
7. Injury done to its victims – (symptoms of disease, what area of the body does it affect)
8. Hideout of culprit (where it is found across the world, where is it most common)
9. Number of victims to date, and Most common victim it preys on (adults, kids, males, females, animals?)
10. Most effective weapon against the disease (treatments, cures?)
Some Disease to choose from include:
Bacteria: anthrax, whooping cough botulism, gangrene, tetanus, diphtheria, leprosy, tuberculosis, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, food poisoning, dysentery, cholera, plague
Virus: Small pox, Shingles, HIV, Hepatitis, Rubella, Mumps, Polio, Ebola, Hanta virus,
Protists: Malaria, Elephantiasis, Lyme disease, African sleeping sickness, trypanosome,
