Call to order at 8:30am
A meeting of WAHSET District #1 was held at Appleatchee Riders’ Arena on April 21, 2017.

Approval of minutes
Michelle moved to approve the previous Minutes as recorded. Margie seconded the motion. The vote was approved unanimously.
Reports
Treasurer:
Darla shared that we have an estimated $18,000 currently in our account. We saved roughly $340 by paying for our Meets within a two week window.
Unfinished business
Linda announced that she still has 2016 medals/patches. This is your last chance if you have athletes that have not yet received last season’s medals/patches.
New business
Cindy asked for a vote on reimubsement for voice recorders purchased for the Drill Judges. The was cost $113.46, Cindy donated $38.46, therefore a total of $75.00 is being requested. Margie moved: District #1 reimburse Cindy Fowler for $75.00 to reimburse for voice recorders, for the Drill Judges. Kathy seconded the motion. The vote carried unanimously.
Senior Recoginition: Linda has asked that seniors please submit short, a couple sentences, bios to the office for senior recognition ceremonies Saturday.
Linda shared that Shannon needs confirmation daily for State Qualifiers. Please do not leave on Sunday, without completing this task.
Judges’ Clinics: Performance Clinic to be held November 12, 2017, inconjunction with WSHS. Drill Clinic to be held November 18, 2017.
2017 State Meet:
- The WASHET Website has State Meet info.
- District #1 will be in charge of running: Juming, Reining, IHOR, and Hunt Seat.
- Full Hook-up camping will be divided amongst Districts.
- Stalls: The draw for stall placement will be after this weekend of meets. The small stalls will not be used at State. Kathy has volunteered Cascade to take the uncovered stalls near the stalls south of the rodeo arena, at the Grant County Fairgrounds. Terry made a motion: District #1 volunteer to take the bank of stalls south of the Rodeo Arena for the State Meet. Kathy seconded the motion. The vote carried with a majority, there was one opposition.
- $75/horse for stall fees at State.
- Arrival on Wednesday after noon. WAHSET does not have access to arenas on Wednesday. $16/stall early arrival fee.
- Shavings will be pine purchased from either West Coast or Vaughen. Kathy will confirm which company is providing shavings. No outside bedding is allowed on the Fairgrounds. If a different bedding is needed for your horse, you must provide a Veterinarian’s written statement.
- Patterns will be posted April 27, 2017, on the WAHSET Website.
- Linda, District Chair, requested that her hotel room be paid for at State. Kathy made the motion: District #1 pay for the hotel room at State, for our District Chair, Linda Simon. Randy seconded the motion. The vote carried unanimously.
- Auction Basket for State: We need to bring in $6400 through the State Raffle,$1,200 more than has been previously accrued. These funds go toward Scholarships, and the dollar values have been raised, therefore needing to earn more money through the raffle.
- Performance Judges: Heidi Masengail, Doug Evanson, Dawn Spencer Cattle/Gaming Judges: Cameron Backer, Leslie Targert Drill: Paige Scott, Peter Laughgrin, Joan Cooper
- It was brought up to help promote our District #1 Benefit Show, with Flyers at State.
PNWIC: Shannon will need confirmation at State for those eligible to attend our Regional Show with Oregon. Coggins/Health/Import Permit are required for out of state travel. The Import Permit is the old “Brand Inspection”.
Voting for 2017/18 District #1 Officers. Kathy moved: The Vice Chair, Margie Sager, please take over the meeting during the election process. Cheryl seconded the motion. The vote carried Unanimously.
- Nominations Open for District Chair. Margie Sager was nominated. Kathy motioned to close nominations for Distrit Chair. Michelle seconded the motion. Unanimous Ballot for Margie Sager to District Chair, and she accepted the position.
- Nominations for Vice Chair. Linda Simon was nominated. Kathy moved that Linda Simon be appointed to the Vice Chair position. Unanimous Ballot for Linda Simon to District Vice Chair, and Linda accepted the position.
- Nominations for Secretary. Terry Ziegler was nominated by Kathy. Randy seconded the motion. Unanimous Ballot for Terry Ziegler to Secretary, and Terry accepted the position.
- Treasurer. Jennifer Alloway has been working with Darla this season assisting in the Treasurer position. Kathy moved for Jennifer Alloway to be our District Treasurer. Unanimous Ballot, and Jennfier accepted the position of Treasurer.
Congratulations to our District Officers for the 2017-2018 WAHSET Season!
Treasurer: The Treasurer position has been streamlined with Quick Books Online, a Dropbox account, and a Gmail account. Thank you Darla for helping update our accounting.
It was asked that we accrue a State Adult Representative. Cheryl Bains volunteered to cover this position at our State Board meetings throughout the season. These include 4 face to face meetings.

Meet #3: Linda reminded us that District Awards will be presented each night in the main arena. All equipment from the Sparks arena needs to get back into the equipment trailer in an orderly fashion, this will mean finding a pick up to help haul equipment back and forth. The District would like to have a District Equipment Supervisor.
