Scripture Warns

We Can Lose Our Eternal Life IFWe Do Not Guard and Possess It

Please read these Scriptures carefully…

Mark 4:23-25: “`If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.’ And He said to them, `Take heed what you hear. With the same measure you use, it shall be measured to you, and more shall be added to you who hear. For whoever possesses, to him more shall be given; but whoever does not possess, even what he possesses shall be taken away from him.’ ”

Luke 8:17-18: “`For whatever is hidden shall be revealed, and whatever is secret shall be known and come to light. Therefore take heed how you hear. For whoever possesses, to him more shall be given; and whoever does not possess, even what he thinks he possesses shall be taken from him.’ ”

Excerpts from Luke 12:32-48:“Do not fear, little flock, because your Father did delight to give you the reign. Sell your possessions and give in kindness. Make yourselves purses which do not grow old, a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief does come near nor moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there your heart shall be also. Let your loins be girded and your lamps burning, and be like men waiting for their master, when he shall return from the wedding, that when he comes and knocks they open to him immediately.Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, shall find watching...for the Son of Aḏam is coming at an hour you do not expect.’ And Kĕpha said to Him, `Master, do You speak this parable to us, or also to all?’ And the Master said, `Who then is the trustworthy and wise manager, whom his master shall appoint over his household, to give the portion of food in due season? Blessed is that servant whom his master shall find so doing when he comes. Truly, I say to you that he shall appoint him over all his possessions. But if that servant says in his heart, ‘My master is delaying his coming,’ and begins to beat the male servants and female servants, and to eat and drink and be drunk, the master of that servant shall come on a day when he does not expect him, and at an hour that he does not know, and shall cut him in two and appoint his portion with the unbelievers. And that servant who knew his master’s desire, and did not prepare, nor did according to his desire, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he who did not know, yet did what deserved flogging, shall be beaten with few. And everyone to whom much is given, from him much shall be demanded. And to whom much has been entrusted, from him much more shall be required.’ ”

Matthew 25:1-30: “Then the reign of the heavens shall be compared to ten maidens who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five foolish. Those who were foolish, having taken their lamps, took no oil with them,

but the wise took oil in their containers with their lamps. Now while the bridegroom took time, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight a cry was heard, ‘See, the bridegroom is coming, go out to meet him!’ Then all those maidens rose up and trimmed their lamps.

And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us of your oil, because our lamps are going out.’ But the wise answered, saying, ‘No, indeed, there would not be enough for us and you. Instead, go to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.’ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and those who were ready went in with him to the wedding feast, and the door was shut. And later the other maidens also came, saying, ‘Master, Master, open up for us!’ But he answering, said, ‘Truly, I say to you, I do not know you.’ Watch therefore, because you do not know the day or the hour in which the Son of Aḏam is coming, for it is like a man going from home, who called his own servants and delivered his possessions to them. And to one he gave five talents, and to another two, and to another one, to each according to his own ability, and went from home. And he who had received the five talents went and worked with them, and made another five talents. In the same way, he with the two also, he gained two more. But he who had received the one went away and dug in the ground, and hid the silver of his master. And after a long time the master of those servants came and settled accounts with them. And he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Master, you delivered to me five talents. See, I have gained five more talents besides them.’ And his master said to him, ‘Well done, good and trustworthy servant. You were trustworthy over a little, I shall set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ Then he who had received two talents came and said, ‘Master, you delivered to me two talents. See, I have gained two more talents besides them.’ His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and trustworthy servant. You were trustworthy over a little, I shall set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’ And the one who had received the one talent also came and said, ‘Master, I knew you to be a hard man, reaping where you have not sown, and gathering where you have not scattered seed, and being afraid, I went and hid your talent in the ground. See, you have what is yours.’ And his master answering, said to him, `You wicked and lazy servant, you knew that I reap where I have not sown, and gather where I have not scattered seed. Then you should have put my silver with the bankers, and at my coming I would have received back my own with interest. Therefore take away the talent from him, and give it to him who possesses ten talents. For to everyone who possesses, more shall be given, and he shall have over-flowingly; but from him who does not possess, even what he possesses shall be taken away.‘And throw the worthless servant out into the outer darkness – there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.’ ”

Our gift of salvation must be invested in the lives of others. We must bear fruit. We must reproduce. (Psalm 126:5-6) The Master must see the reward of His suffering in our daily lives. We must exude His nature and walk in His ways in obedience and in His love so that others might come to know Him, know His Word, know His love, and know His ability to take care of them eternally. We are ambassadors for our Father in heaven. His love “compels us” to tell others about Him, about our Savior. (II Corinthians 5:17-21)

John 15:1-2, 5-6: “I am the true vine, and My Father is the gardener. Every branch in Me that bears no fruit He takes away. And every branch that bears fruit He prunes, so that it bears more fruit…I am the vine, you are the branches. He who stays in Me, and I in him, he bears much fruit. Because without Me you are able to do nothing! If anyone does not stay in Me, he is thrown away as a branch and dries up. And they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned.”

Read the parable of the sower in Mark 4:1-25 to get the whole picture. The seed is the Word. Verse 20: “And those sown on good soil and those that hear the Word and accept it, and bear fruit – some thirty, some sixty, some a hundred fold.”

The only ones truly saved (born again) are those that bear fruit. A free that is sterile cannot bear fruit. A tree with diseased roots cannot bear edible fruit. When we receive the “true new birth” there are 40 thing that the Spirit of Yahuwah does in response to our proclamation of faith in the blood of Yahushua for our salvation and in His resurrection for our eternal life. He only pardons us after true repentance and proclamation of faith.

Once these 40 thing are done to transform us into a new creation, to go backwards, to starve our spirit, to withdraw our loyalty to our Master is to “trample Him underfoot,” and thus we have the warning in Hebrew 6:4-6; we have the warning in I Peter 2:19-22. To turn from our salvation is like being a dog that returns to its vomit. Yes, a person can fall from “grace,” even unto damnation. But, this is a reality throughout the entire Word. If we are lazy with what He has given us – He will take it back and dispossess us – eternally. He gave His all for us – we owe Him everything! We are created beings. He is Elohim, we are not!

I urge you once again to read Derek Townsend’s little book that focuses on the above Scriptures with revelation given to him by Abba, entitled For the Love of Truth – Possessing Your Eternal Life. Buy extra books to give to family and friends.

I don’t recommend this book because Derek is my son, but because what he wrote is from Yahuwah to all of us. This book has greatly blessed me.

I attended a Baptist Church until I was about 23 years old. One of the most treasured Baptist doctrines was “once saved, always saved.” They based that on one phrase repeated in two verses--John 10:28-29--“And I give them everlasting life, and they shall by no means perish and no one shall snatch them out of My hand. My Father who has given them to me is greater than all. And no man is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.” Fantastic promise! There’s just one question for the Baptists: Where does free will come into play here? These verses tell what Yahuwah will do. But, Yahuwah has given us free will. He respects our free will. He will not hold us if we want to be free of Him, and/or free of His Son. No one will snatch us out His hand, but we sure can choose by our own free will to walk away from Him! He respects that!

Revelation 3:5, Messiah speaking: “He who overcomes will be dressed in a white robe and I shall by no mean blot out his name from the Book of Life, but I shall confess his name before My Father and before His angels.”

Matthew 10:32-33: “Whoever confesses Me before men, him will I also confess before My Father who is in heaven. But, whosoever denies Me before men, him will I deny before My Father in heaven.” To find out what “denying Him” means, refer to my article “Ashamed”/February 19, 2009.

Those that say there were “saved” and then reject Messiah Yahushua trample His blood underfoot, and without His blood there is no remission of sins, no atonement--no eternal life. His blood stands between you and the lake of fire! Never forget that! (Leviticus 17:11 and Hebrews 9:25) The Word makes it plain that it would be better for a person never to know the way of salvation that to know it and turn from it. There are layers of punishment and the lower layers of hell are for those that knew the truth but turned and denied it, as did “the devil and his angels.” This explains the strange assignment given to Yeshayahu/Isaiah in Isaiah6, and Messiah’s strange words in quoting him in Matthew 13:10-16.

I was teaching in a meeting near Fort Worth, Texas. The man and his wife sitting next to me were Baptists. He was a deacon in his church. She was a former Church of Christ member before she married him. I taught on this subject. At one point, he got red in the face. He raised his voice: “once saved, always saved!” I opened to the back of my Bible and showed him about 50 verses I’d listed that said otherwise, taken from the whole of the Word. At that, before pulling his wife towards the door, hedogmatically said to me: “I choose to believe my pastor!”

Oooooh… A few months later he and his wife were in another gathering. When they saw me, he and his wife came over and hugged me. He had tears in his eyes. He said that since “that night,” he and his wife had never searched the Scriptures like that before--trying to prove me wrong. But, he said the Word proved me right. He apologized for his former attitude. Wow is that a rarity!

Once Truth comes, that’s our fork in the road! We then must use our will to choose the right path in order to continue on to the narrow gate that leads to life. (Matthew 7:13-14) Few find that narrow path because most people fear Truth.

The emphasis on I John 1:9 in my church gave people the idea that they could sin all they wanted and Jesus would forgive them because He paid the price for all their sins. That verse was well overworked in my life, too, until I put it in context with the rest of what Yochanan wrote.

I was in the depths of Uganda, near the Rwanda border, teaching in a loosely built wooden church with a tin roof. On the last day, a few men came who were of a group that believed that you could sin all you wanted and it was all right with God because Jesus paid for all our sins. I had a powerful prophetic word for them! It left my audience in a numb shock. Later the leader of those men came and thanked me for my “word” from God. But, like those men, this is the way most comfort-seeking believers in western culture look at it, without saying it in so many words.

There are warnings throughout the whole of the Word that tell us to tend to our lives carefully for the day is coming when deceptions will be so great, and violence and terror, too, that people will throw away their eternal life to embrace “doctrines of demons.”

Sha’ul said in Acts 14:22 that “…it isthrough much tribulation that we must enter the Kingdom of Elohim.”We are privileged to be a part of the sufferings of Messiah. Philippians 1:29: “…it has been given as a favor on behalf of Messiah not only to believe in Him, but to suffer for His sake.” Loving this world is the gateway to eternal death – look hard at Y’acob (James) 4:4!

Go to the root of all you believe. Make sure it flows with the whole Word in the nature, ways, and thinking of Elohim. Let the Spirit direct your re-born spirit. Never decide what to believe by head reasoning, for our reasoning begins from what someone else has said--man or demonic entity. Sha’ul stressed: “…though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty to the pulling down of strongholds, overthrowing reasonings and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of Elohim, taking captive every thought to make it obedient to Messiah.” (II Corinthians 10:4-5)

I Corinthians 13:5: “Examine yourselves whether you are in the faith – prove yourselves …” Is your name in the Book of Life? Are you in His book of remembrance also? (Malachi 3:16-4:4)
