Digital Media Center Inaugurates
Getting Down to Business Seminar Series
(Santa Ana)— The Digital Media Center (DMC) is presenting The ABC’s of a Business Incubator, the inaugural event in its 2007 Getting Down to Business seminar series on Thursday, April 26, from noon to 2:00 p.m. The business community is invited to attend the free seminar at the DMC, 1300 S. Bristol, room 103 in Santa Ana. A light lunch and a facility tour of this new, state-of-the art facility will be offered. This inaugural event features a panel of business incubation experts. Panel members include Keri DeWitt, CEO/president of Teresis, a DMC Business Incubator resident company; Bart Greenberg, a member of the DMC Business Incubator’s Advisory Group, and partner, Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP, where he serves as co-chair of the firm's venture capital and technology practice group; and Bart Hoffman, DMC director. Julie Slark, Rancho Santiago Community College District assistant vice chancellor of educational services, will moderate the panel.
“Rancho Santiago Community College District and Santa Ana College are pleased to co-host this series of workshops to introduce the Orange County business community to how our unique business incubator benefits the Orange County economy,” said Slark. “Not only do we serve the entrepreneurial businesses that reside with us and additional businesses that come to us for counsel, but we are also striving to serve as a hub for innovation in the digital media industry throughout Orange County.”
The DMC Business Incubator offers a dynamic workspace for 10 to 15 emerging digital media companies accompanied by a wide variety of business support services. Uniquely hosted by a community college district, it affords businesses a close connection with the district’s educational programs. Within this setting, entrepreneurs have the advantages of focusing on
development and innovation while the incubator facilitates the support needs of the business. An

array of business development services is also available for non-resident digital media start-up companies.
Services provided to resident companies include:
- Competitive lease rates;
- High-speed network infrastructure, wireless Ethernet and a centralized server room;
- Free business consulting services and access to resources including legal consultation, patent specialists, research and development grants and venture capital groups;
- One-on-one counseling in basic business practices, marketing/advertising, human resources, accounting, web and promotional design;
- Networking opportunities with other entrepreneurial technology businesses; and
- On-site educational classes and seminars to enhance knowledge of business basics.

About the Digital Media Center
The Digital Media Center (DMC), an economic development program of Rancho Santiago Community College District (RSCCD) and a Santa Ana College (SAC) instructional center, joins technology, business and education under one roof. The DMC was made possible through a $1.6 million U.S. Department of Commerce grant facilitated by the WRJ Group, land donated by the City of Santa Ana and Measure E funds. The DMC features a RSCCD-hosted business incubator nurturing digital media companies and college programs and seminars in the digital media arts, TV/video and business.
