Staff Council Meeting Minutes

Proceedings:
· Meeting called to order at 9:30 AM, by President, Darlene Bouley.
· Attendance roll call was done in conjunction with members introducing themselves at the very beginning of the meeting.
· Minutes for December approved.
USPS Staff Council Scholarships:
Martiza Pomales, Committee chair gave out the following awards to winning USPS employees/dependents for fall 2008:
Michael Collins received a $250.00 Regular Scholarship
Lori Burgio received a $250.00 Financial Aid Scholarship
Pam Jaggernauth received a $100.00 Savings Incentive
Vanessa Blanco received a $100.00 Savings Incentive
LaShawn Glaspie received a $100.00 Savings Incentive
Melissa Feyer received a $100.00 Book Award
Jeanine Clements received a $100.00 Book Award
Ana Restrepo received a $100.00 Book Award
Kim McClenan received a $100.00 Book Award
Connie Washam received a $100.00 Book Award
HR Update: Mark Roberts, Director
· Annual performance appraisals are due in HR on February 15, 2009. Appraisals are mandatory, as they relate to accreditation.
· Nothing new to report regarding the Staff Council Foundation Scholarship Fund, still pending.
· Additional budget cuts this year are likely, which could mean that lay-offs might be a consideration in the future.
· Regarding student enrollment, there is a cap on incoming freshman enrollment.
· Details for the Awards Ceremony are not yet available, will ask Martha Gedbaw
Darlene Bouley: For Valentine’s Day, she will be getting a flyer to all council members to post in their areas to promote the Pegasus pin, UCF charm, and polo shirt. Fundraising now needed for Spring Scholarship/Book awardees.
Committee Reports:
UCF Parking Services Committee: Jamie La Moreaux
· The cost of parking decals will be going up 5%.
· New traffic lights coming on Gemini in the Greek Park area, near parking garage “D”, and near parking garage “C”.
Employee of the Month: Noreen Hodapp
· There are currently 18 staff employees on the list to be considered.
· Once you are nominated, you remain in the pool for consideration for one year.
Research Committee: Susan Foisy
· The topics of lay-offs were examined by the Research Committee the last time they met.
Special Events Committee:
· Relay for Life will be coming soon. Council will be putting together a team, see Rodney Browdy.
· The Staff Assembly is on April 16, 2009.
· Begin to think about who we would like to invite as speakers.
· Noreen Hodapp announced that the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation will be held on March 7, 2009 at the Memory Mall.
· Carmen Afonso announced there are new classes in the Office of Diversity Initiatives beginning next week.
· The Staff Council Meeting in March could be held at the Rosen College if we have enough members interested in going.
