Sample Specifications for Metal Expansion Joints

Model MetraGator - Externally Pressurized Expansion Joint:

Expansion joints to be of the packless, externally pressurized type. Pressure rated for 150psi @ 700 F or 300psi @ 700°F. Movement capabilities to be 4", 6", or 8" axial movement, as required. All welded construction with multiple ply stainless steel bellows, heavy gauge steel shroud, integral guide rings, and internal liner. System line pressure to be external to the bellows to minimize squirm. Double end joints shall have anchor base to act as intermediate anchor. All joints to be provided with drain connection and lifting lug. All materials of construction, pressure ratings, and end fittings shall be appropriate for the application. Style MPTR3 - Multi-Ply Bellows Pump Connector:

Flexible metal bellows pump connectors/expansion joints shall be of the multiple ply bellows type. Stainless steel construction, carbon steel class 150 flanges, and integral control rods, with rubber grommets, to prevent over extension. Connector shall have fixed flanges. Face-to-face dimension shall be 6" f/f for 2" through 8" pipe sizes, and 8" f/f for 10" and 12" pipe sizes, unless specified otherwise. Bellows design to allow for axial compression, axial extension, and lateral offset per system requirements and/or manufacturers recommendations. Flexible bellows pump connectors/expansion joints shall be model “MPTR3” as manufactured by The Metraflex Company®, Chicago, IL.

Style MPTRVS - Multi-Ply Bellows Pump Connector:

Flexible metal bellows pump connectors/expansion joints shall be of the multiple ply bellows type.

Stainless steel construction, carbon steel class 150 flanges, and integral control rods, with rubber grommets, to prevent over extension. Connectors shall have vanstoned floating flanges, with all wetted surfaces of stainless steel. Face-to-face dimension shall be 6" f/f for 2" through 8" pipe sizes, and 8" f/f for 10" and 12" pipe sizes, unless specified otherwise. Style MNLC - Low Corrugation Bellows Type Expansion Joint:

Expansion joints shall be of the low corrugation, non-controlled, two ply bellows type. Stainless steel bellows with ANSI class 150/300 fixed or floating flanges, grooved, or weld ends*. Expansion joints shall be rated for 150 or 300 PSI maximum working pressure and 850°F maximum operating temperature. Expansion joints shall be of the single or dual end type and may be provided with liners, covers, control rods, limit stops, and/or intermediate anchor base as required. The number of corrugations and overall length of the expansion joints shall be determined by the thermal expansion requirements, system design engineer, and manufacturers recommendations. Style MN50 - High Corrugation 50LB Class Bellows Type Expansion Joint:

Expansion joints shall be of the high corrugation, non-controlled, single ply bellows type. Hydroformed T304 stainless steel bellows, with ANSI class 150 vanstoned flanges, grooved, or weld ends*. Expansion joints shall be rated for 50 PSI maximum working pressure, and 850°F maximum operating temperature. Expansion joints shall be of the single or dual end type and may be provided with liners, covers, control rods, limit stops, and/or intermediate anchor base as required. Style MC - Ring Controlled High Corrugation Bellows Type Expansion Joint:

Expansion joints shall be of the high corrugation, self-equalizing, ring controlled, single ply bellows type. Hydroformed T304 stainless steel bellows, with ANSI class 150 or 300 vanstone flanges, or carbon steel weld end*. Cast iron equalizing rings to provide added reinforcement and prevent over compression. Expansion joints of seven corrugations or more must be supplied with external sheet metal covers to prevent squirm. Joints shall be rated for 300 PSI maximum working pressure and 500° F maximum operating temperature. Expansion joints shall be of the single or dual end type and may be provided with liners, covers, control rods, and/or intermediate anchor base as required. The number of corrugations and overall length of the expansion joints shall be determined by the thermal expansion requirements, system design engineer, and manufacturers recommendations.
