Greetings Parents,

I am writing to you today to invite you to our Spring Conferences. This round of conferences is unique in that we have less time to meet with parents than we do in our Fall session with Student Led Conferences. Meaningful parent-teacher conferences are a crucial part of successful communication between school and the home. Our conferences set the stage for you and your student to have a strong finish to the school year. This is a great opportunity for the school and the family to reinforce expectations and policies around grading, attendance, and behaviors that contribute to learning success. As educators we are concerned about the needs of both students and parents. Our goal is to create a meaningful conference where we can listen and learn from you and then build a strong home and school cooperative team that boosts student achievement.

Because time is short and we want for parents to have an opportunity to meet with teachers without feeling rushed we are asking that parents with students who have D’s or F’s attend the afternoon session so that we can develop plans to support their students’ academic pursuits. Parents with students who do not fall into this category are by all means invited to attend, however are encouraged to connect with their child’s teacher electronically, by phone, or in person at a separate time if a meeting is necessary. We are hoping to create sufficient time for all students, parents and teachers. I appreciate your understanding as we attempt to target our approach to parent conferences.

Our Spring Conferences will be held on Wednesday March 27nd, 2013 from 12:00-3:00pm in the GMS Library and Cafeteria. You may drop in at your convenience during the time frame offered. 6th grade and Special Ed will be in the Library. 7th, 8th, PE & Electives will be in the Cafeteria. Teachers will be grouped by grade levels with signs posted for you to find them easily. Your child’s teachers are eager for this opportunity to partner with you.

Sincerely,

Greg Borgerding
